Kyles is going to have a special season. He has also embraced a leadership role.

DW was very impressive to me. He has really stepped it up.

Cotton was the biggest surprise. He is going to be a player.

Very nice observance of Kyles. He looked, acted and played like a leader today. That's a nice little bonus.

DWill was 5-5 from the field. This kid is a ballah. He'll torch someone (or more) this year for a boatload of points.

Cotton was a surprise if you haven't been paying attention... :) This kid is demanding minutes right now....he and Hall are studs. They do what is asked of them, and they do it well, and they do it with passion.

No problems on my end. We always get the commentary during the commercial breaks which can be more telling than "official" play-by-play. At one point Mike said "Well,we'll keep going for those that are watching on Shockervision."

          • This was eminently acceptable. Need to clean up a few turnovers here and there and knock down the freebies better. Maybe EO should put on a FT shooting clinic for his teammates. Actually, I think we will prove to be a good FT shooting team. Gives 3G something to hold over their heads getting ready for PR.

DK with perhaps his best game ever in a Shocker uniform. Did not really force anything on offense, most of his shots came in the flow, played very solid on the defensive side and played pretty much error free ball.

We get 6 points from Garrett and Rags in a combined 23 minutes, Toure only gets 12 minutes (although that is really more than I was expecting) and we simply manhandled the Bucs.

Got a kick out of 3G when Toure lost the handle on a potential fast break near the end of the half. Coach might want to think about a career as a place kicker.

If this team can play defense and share the ball the way they did tonight this will be a fun, fun year. We thought we were deep last year, but I think we may have even better depth this year. That should pay off big time at the end of the year. I think our upper classmen understand what a grind the year can be and they are perfectly happy sharing some of their minutes.

Considering this is the last year for Garrett, Toure, DK and Rags getting these younger players some quality minutes will hopefully not only pay big dividend later this season but also for next year.

I must say I really, really enjoyed watching this team tonight.

Yeah, love his intensity and how he embraces his role.

                    • Dunno how Coach will divide the minutes up, but Cotton will play. Seems odd that we are only redshirting one. Watching EO is fun. Hall could lead the conference in rebounding.

It would have been 2 if Ede had stayed around.

                        • two things from this afternoon not play related:

                          1) Game production at Koch sucks. The cartoons are getting old and lame, and that other intro is class A corny. How hard is it to put together a good intro that doesn't make you feel like your watching the disney channel?

                          2) Just curious who likes the "you still suck" after a made free throw? I hate it, glad they quit with the "balls" part though, that was even worse.

                          • No way did EO have only 3 blocks. The only thing that could stop Hall from leading the MVC in rebouding is minutes. If Stutz stays out of foul trouble and EO continues to improve we have a great 3 headed attack down low. Tekele is a baller. When Toure is healthy enough to start and see significant minutes there is gonna be a log jam of players at the 1, 2 and 3 (if Ben Smith plays more 3 when we play bigger line-ups and he isn't at the 4). A little surprised Evan Wessel didnt red-shirt, but glad to see him in there mixing things up anyway. I know people compare him to Graham Hatch, which would be a huge honor, but Evan is more athletic and determined to follow in his own footsteps, not those of Graham or other Wessels who played before. When i asked him about his nose after the game he said "It's probably broken, no big deal though" Tough kid and extremely hard worker. Love the way we move the ball. Hard to keep up that kinda intensity ahead 42. Excited to see what happens in Puerto Rico.

                              • A lot of fun to watch this afternoon.

DK- VERY impressed with him. He knocked down his big shots, but it felt like he took his time with them today. Last year it seemed like he was a shooter who just had a knack for knocking down the 3 at the beginning of the season. Tonight, it looked like he was taking his time and still getting off the shot. Big game, and he definitely stepped into a leadership role today. Looking forward to what he does.

Ragland- I love Joe's hustle and can't wait to see more from him this season. He really impressed last year and I have a feeling that was a fraction of what he'll do this year.

Toure- Looked good despite the injury. That nice little steal and lay-up were particularly memorable this evening. He's going to have a good year.

Stutz- When Garrett stays out of foul trouble he looks good. I'll credit his fouls tonight to not having a real post player to face up against. Still expect big things from him this year.

Ben- He will be a factor this year. I know we all say that, but he really showed it tonight. His shot looked good, his hustle was good.

DWill- I love his little pull up jumper from right at the line. If he keeps that up, along with his perimeter shooting, he's going to be a force to reckon with.

EO- AWESOME on defense tonight. Only credited with three blocks, but like was said, he altered or had a hand in a few more. Still a little hesitant on the offensive side but he'll get there. Nice to see that when we need him at the 5, he'll be able to give us some quality minutes.

Carl Hall- Honestly, this is the first I'd seen him play, having had to miss SM and the ESU game. I know everyone calls him The Beast, and I didn't doubt it. But watching him today totally showed me that you weren't exaggerating. He thought every rebound was his, and he made sure that he was right there to get it. I started to expect him under the basket every time a shot went up, even when he wasn't on the court. Glad to see somebody step up and fill that hole at the 4.

Frosh- Tekele looked great running the point. He may only be a freshman, but he plays like he's been in a D-I program before. Can't wait to see more from him. Jake White still looks a little shaky, but he'll come along. Evan impressed me tonight. The way he dived for the ball at one point causing the jump ball was just great. I like seeing someone who isn't afraid to hit the ground to recover what needs to be done.

Can't wait to see what happens in Puerto Rico.
Three things in life are constant- death, taxes, and Creighton losing in the first weekend of the tournament.

                                AAC or Bust!
