I heard today on the radio that Coach K was being criticized by his fan base for only winning 2 National titles (out of 2 Final 4’s) in the last 10 or some odd numbers of years. Crazy fan bases. Bobb would be one of them. :)

Right, and nothing about Gregg Marshall’s history at WSU would indicate that’s the direction we’re headed. 8 straight years finishing 1st or 2nd in the Valley, 4 straight regular season championships, second place finish in our first year in the American.Originally posted by BOBB View Post

Still think that the ACC is more the problem...some other schools in the ACC have a much larger local recruiting base, not to mention those with stronger basketball traditions. One outlier...even a below average program like S. Florida was able to recruit most of its team of "bruisers" from just 2 states, Florida and Georgia. Maybe Marshall's coaching does merit some criticism but bear in mind that Marshall may actually be over achieving getting a 3rd or 4th place in the ACC. Another thing, most successful coaches at WSU have used it as a stepping stone. Marshall seems to want to stick around.Originally posted by BOBB View PostComment

Depending on A) what we do to replace Echinique, B) how good is Jo Bilau, and C) what does the rest of the roster look like I think next year it’s reasonable to expect to beat Houston and Cinci at home and to avoid losing a winnable game like @Temple this year. We do those things and we probably finish first this year. At what point will I say we’re outclassed? ****, I don’t know. I would be surprised if we don’t win or tie in the next two years. We win an outright title in the next two to three years. You can bank on it. We were fairly close this year. This group has learned a few lessons the hard way and sometimes that’s the best way. Beilu will end up better than Echenigue, mark my word....Comment
