Big bronze WuShock planned for WSU

The university announced on Wednesday that it is planning an 8-foot-tall bronze sculpture of its mascot WuShock that will be posted at the entrance of the new YMCA and Student Wellness Center, which is set to open this spring.

Steve Clark, a local real estate developer and longtime YMCA board member who the new YMCA will be named for, suggested and offered to finance the statute during the planning and design process for the new YMCA, which will be Wichita’s 10th. The sculpture will honor his late wife, Judy Broshears Clark, who died in a car accident in 1989.

Here is the first (left) Bronze Statute of Lucile Ball and the second (right) one that had to be recreated after the original fail.

I think the mock-up WuShock looks great :yahoo::good:, but I'll wait until the finished product emerges from the furnace to give my final judgment..

I love the fact that he's tromping through a wheat field. If you see that thing coming at ya, you run the other way! Love incorporating the old with the new. I used to have a small pewter WU on my desk (until someone took it!); it didn't look near as good. If they made miniatures of this, I'd buy one!
