Washburn is picked 4th (out of 11 teams) by both the Coaches and Media and Pitt State is picked at a 5th place tie by the Coaches and 7th by the Media.

The Shockers exhbition opponent, Emporia State, is picked 9th by the Coaches and 8th by the Media.

SIU lost to a D-2 school in the regular season and still managed to make the NCAA's in 2006...

Anything can happen. But then again, schools as illustrious as KU shouldn't have problems with D-2 schools being played in the greatest sports venue the world has ever seen.

      ... No really, deuces.

Dont expect UNLV to be any kind of pushover this year. The local radio guys are saying there is a lot of buzz in town with this team and the run and gun style of their new coach. I still expect a Shocker win, especially in Wichita, but the Runnin' Rebs will most likely not be a pushover.

You can add Huggy Bear's squad to the list.

1st game, new coach, new system. No big deal. Chace Stanback was not playing due to a problem over the summer. We beat LMU a few days ago in a closed game. We should be up to speed by the 4th of December. Looking forward to this game with the Shockers

Speaking of UNLV, who is the last team that WSU faced at home who has a National Championship in their history? Oklahoma State?

Technically, Nebraska. They won the NIT once didn't they? I know .. that's not what you meant. :)

You all are wrong. It was Wichita State versus Wichita state at the 2011 Shocker Madness inner-squad scrimmage. Wichita State won the 2011 National Invitation Tournament.

I believe we have played six teams in Wichita that have won NCAA championships, San Francisco ('54 & '55), Wyoming ('49), Cincinnati ('61, '62), Ohio State ('66), Louisville ('80) and Michigan ('89).

We have played at least 8 teams who have won NIT championships, Ohio State, Memphis, Tulsa, Nebraska, Bradley,Southern Illinois, St. Louis and DePaul. The most recent is Nebraska in the NIT last year; last regular season was So. Ill on 2/8/11.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Well it might have been intentional ;-) but you missed: Kansas ('52, '88, '08). They've played here 4-5 times (including the first game at the roundhouse I think).

He also missed Oklahoma State ('45, '46).

We can make this even more inclusive by adding teams who won the National Championship sometime after we played them at home. Florida comes to mind.
