    Here is a list of 2018-19 award winners:

    Scholar Award: Given to the Junior or Senior who receives the highest academic honors and achieves exceptional academic success.
    >>> Preston Snavely, Baseball
    >>> Marta Bellucco, Women's Tennis

    Academic Team of the Year: Given to the team with the highest average GPA.
    >>> Women's Tennis

    Rookie of the Year: Given to the year's most outstanding freshman performer.
    >>> Dexter Dennis, Men's Basketball
    >>> Carla Bremaud, Women's Basketball

    Social Media Award: Best use of Twitter, Instagram, or other social media platforms to engage followers and leverage content in support of their personal brand and Shocker Athletics.
    >>> Markis McDuffie, Men's Basketball

    Shocker Service Award: A student-athlete or group of student-athletes that go above and beyond in their service to the community.
    >>> Kara Bown, Volleyball

    Shocker Assist Award: This award goes out to the best athletes in a supporting role. Because after all, what would Batman do without Robin? These student-athletes demonstrate extraordinary sportsmanship, support, and loyalty to teammates.
    >>> Asbjørn Midtgaard, Men's Basketball
    >>> Alexandra Lazarova, Women's Tennis

    Performance of the Year: Perrigan hit two two-run home runs to defeat Oklahoma State in the Fayetteville Regional, sending Wichita State to its first-ever NCAA Regional Final.
    >>> Madison Perrigan, Softball

    Heart of a Shocker Award: Someone who has overcome challenges and exceeded expectations to serve as an inspiration to others.
    >>> Bailey Lange, Softball

    Athletic Director Award: Someone who displays selflessness, positive attitude, and outstanding effort and engagement.
    >>> Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage, Women's Basketball

    Workhorse Award: Individuals that display exceptional effort and commitment to strength training and conditioning.
    >>> Laurie Derrico, Softball
    >>> Ben Johnson, Track & Field
    Other nominees: Luke Ritter (baseball), Asbjørn Midtgaard (men's basketball), Andrea Caligiana (men's tennis), Seraphine Bastin (women's basketball), Gavrilla Arya (women's golf) and Rebekah Topham (women's cross country/track & field).

    Male and Female Athlete of the Year:
    >>> Ben Johnson, Men's Track & Field
    >>> Winny Koskei, Women's Cross Country/Track & Field

    Comeback Athlete of the Year: Someone who has made the most significant, profound or impressive comeback from serious illness, injury, or personal hardship.
    >>> Asea Webber, Softball
    >>> Josh Cable, Men's Cross Country/Track & Field

    Team of the Year: The team with the most outstanding athletic performance and achievement.
    >>> 2018 Softball

    Positive Energy Award: Someone whose positive energy and enthusiasm is a difference maker on their team.
    >>> Jordan Boyer, Baseball

    Shocker LIFE Man and Woman of the Year: This award goes out to the male and female student-athletes with the most Shocker LIFE points.
    >>> Rayvon Allen, Men's Track & Field
    >>> Alexandra Lazarova, Women's Tennis
    Other Nominees: Ryleigh Buck (softball), Marta Bellucco (women's tennis), Esther Thebault (women's tennis), Yannik Emmert (men's golf), Eddie Stoica (men's tennis), Clay Eckert (men's track & field), Brycen Bush (men's basketball)

    Mr. and Ms. Shocker Award: A senior who displays all-around excellence in Athletics, Academics, Character and Service and Personal Development.

    When I first saw this I thought Bill Self had an award ceremony honoring perserverance in the folically challenged community.
    "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!
