  • Waiting For Godot (October)

A thread of randomness to help get us through to October (which will arrive unlike that ghosting jerk Godot).

    I'll start.

Are there any former recruits (preferably ones we were seriously involved with) who you were bummed we didn't get....but never amounted to anything on the court?

For me it is a juco kid from Conners State named Willie Atwood. I was so geeked out over this dude. A buddy is a big Hawkeye fan and we were both in the final 4 for him. I actually joined Twitter just to follow Willie for crumbs of clues.

He broke my heart when he went to Arizona State where he absolutely tore it up! Just kidding...I think he averaged roughly 4ppg during his two years at ASU.

Isn't there a country song about unanswered prayers?

I watched him in a G League game a month or two and he was absolutely unstoppable. Still hurts.

I wonder whatever happened to that big greek kid we were recruiting at the same time popadapoulous or something. I feel like St George's let us down on him. He was supposed to come here for the church and Greek girls and play basketball for WSU in his spare time.

While the KU game was one of the happiest days in my life... I remember feeling horribly sorry for Perry. He was the only player on KU's roster to play with heart that day. What could have been?!

This kid really was hyped up... curious why or how things then didn't end up better

Barry Brown was a good one we were very close to signing.

                    Damn. I love Barry Brown.

Imagine him and Shamet in the same backcourt.

I would say Alex Lomax, because he seemed like the cherry on top of a good recruiting class and then boom he was gone. Time will tell if that was that great of a loss.
