    • Whoever loses to ECU this year (we almost did and someone good will I think), will really drop big time in the national ratings, and the metric rankings too. Their metrics are really bad.

I think it's a little early to be throwing the term "great" at that team. I can see that team imploding for one reason or another.

          • Seems as though voters do not have a high opinion of the SEC. Which is fine, if applied unilaterally.

            • If we lose to Memphis, we drop out of the Top 25. Pathetic. A team whose only losses were to ranked teams and we'll get dropped. You can take that to the bank. WSU still under the 'very little room for error' expectation.

Losing to Memphis is a check I don't plan on cashing.

Only seems to have an effect if you lose (Memphis) but no credit if you beat the snot out of one.

                  • Duke got beat at home by SFA and don’t take a big hit in polls, Memphis loses in a close one to a good Georgia team without one of their best players and they fall 11 spots. Little bit of overkill. Who ever loses Thursday will probably be out of the top 25, which is too bad. Certain teams and conferences get a lot more leeway

                    • Memphis is going to be pissed Thursday... As they should be. That's a ridiculous drop

Agreed - but not as pissed as they will be on Friday

Losses last night, pushed Shockers into the Top 20.

Oh Man!!!!! You thought "they" were going to be fair and give credit where credit is due. Nope thats not how they roll. Shocks just got to go win it all before they get the respect they deserve.

Am I missing something? We do have plenty of room to improve but we pass my eye test.

KenPom doesn't do a lot of eye evaluation or other qualitative stuff, pie, and his numbers for WSU are what they are. The Shocks moved up about half a point in overall rating, which was enough to squeak into 30th just ahead of St. Mary's, and Houston at 25th (the highest ranked AAC team for Pomeroy) is about another half point ahead of WSU. IF WSU can get the job done on the road this weekend, there's a reasonable chance they'll move higher. Also, other metrics and ratings (like the NCAA's mighty NET, which hopefully will be useful in evaluating EVERYONE come tourney time, and not just be turned into an excuse for promoting midlevel teams from name conferences because the TV people need eyeballs) have WSU higher already.

Shocks just need to stay healthy, keep winning the tough ones (and not blow any less tough ones), and continue improving; if so, everything else will take care of itself.
