Wow, #50? That's about as low as you'll find anywhere I would think. No way we're that low. And how can they say the #50 team is an NCAA team? After you throw in all the auto-qualifiers, there's not enough at-large spots left to get down to #50 is there?
I think the thing with this Shocker team is that we have so many unknowns that it is very difficult to predict with any confidence exactly how good we will be.
Yes, we do have a good core of 6 returning players, but the rest of the roster is petty much new to D-1 basketball (and I include EO in that group).
I will say that this guy (or these guys) seemed to do a decent job on their homework and at least seemed familiar with the pieces of the puzzle.
I most definitely have Q's about Stutz playing 25 min per game. If he can't (due to foul problems or whatever), who else will play center for, let's say, 15-18 min per game? (I also have Q's about Orupke, who quite noticeably shied away from the ball on offense last year)
What's wrong with this projection? Losing Durly and Blair are huge and the article is right, can Stutz play 25 minutes a game and sustain this for the entire season while playing at a high level? Big questions.
25 - 50 seems a reasonable projection for this team. Lots of questions in the frontcourt and what is on paper doesn't always translate into doing well in D1 ball.
I'm hoping Stutz 'finds it' this year which would be tremendous.
Wichita State was SIXTH in the country in rebound margin average last year.. SIXTH. Man, that was everything for them (shoulda downed UConn). Playing devil's advocate, I don't think they can replicate that this year, and what it might mean if they don't match that stat this year. 'Can't wait to get it going and find out!
Blair was a beast underneath, he will be sorely missed. If Anacreon is anything like they say (Ramon), it will help a lot. Carl Hall should be a fine replacement as well.

The key words being "if" and "should" and that doesn't just apply to James and Carl. We just won't know for sure until the rubber meets the road.
Shocker Madness in 2 weeks. Most of us will get our first good luck then, but we still won't know where we stand until we get into the season.

I think Hall will do his part on the boards. In fact I would bet on it. Just hope he is ready to get after it out of the gate, but I figure it will take some time for him to adjust. But by the time Valley play gets started I expect he will be pulling down alot of boards. I think Hall will put up the same kind of stats that Blair did.
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!
We've been demanding respect for the past 3 years only to wet our pants on several occasions that I'm sure all on this board will remember without me bringing them up.
Now, we won the NIT, and that's a great achievement, but until we win either a Valley Championship, MVC tournament championship, or a couple of games in the NCAA championship, we really don't have any business expecting to be treated like a perennial top 25 team.

+1.
We gotta win some big games in the regular season too. We have failed miserably in that department in the last few years as well.
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

PS: These guys rank Creighton #32 overall and #1 in the MVC.
I just don't understand all the Creighton love. While they probably will be improved don't forget they were not very good last year!
* Barely finished above .500 in the Valley
* Went 2-6 (ouch!) against the top 4 teams in the valley
* 231st in ppg
* 170th in rpg
* 3-6 on the road in Valley play and finishing 0-6 in the last 6 games. Including a loss late in the season to Bradley.
* Lawson is gone so they lose a guy contributing 9.2 ppg and 5.5 rpg
* Extremely fragile - one injury to Young, McDermott, or Echenique will be a disaster.
Well, Creighton (with Doug McDermott, Gregory Echenique, Antoine Young, etc.) did sweep WSU last year, so ... wait ... News Flash = "WSU swept CU" ... but this isn't important. Anybody who can take Iowa State to the NCAA tourney must be great ... No NCAA tourney? :whistle:
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful: Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.
