  • 2019-20 AAC Media Deal

    Saw this on AACBBS. https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/...rts-media.aspx

$8Mil/School would be nice without a Grant of Rights, how much were we getting in the Valley? $100, some gas cards and a free pizza at Casey's General Store?

Looks like Turner is rumored to be interested as well.

That is games on TruTV, TNT and TBS for possibly $10Mil/School.

We won't get anywhere near that big of cut. BUT it's still more than we got with the MVC.

I thought I read somewhere that Navy gets 60%, so I'm ideally hoping for 40% but I'd learn to live with 30%. Better than a free pizza at Casey's.

I really like Casey's beef pizza; but if I had an enterprise like an athletic program to support, and the choice, I'd prefer a few million dollars over even all the Casey's pizza I could eat.

Pretty sure we found out that the "big espn" deal where a majority of our games got moved to ESPN but was on ESPN3 streaming, was like a no cash deal, ANNNND they used the wording like "and partnering with the universities to provide education opportunities for students to work with the broadcast" just meant that the schools were on the hook for the production cost and talent for the broadcast. So no money, plus you had to do some of the production yourself.

Apparently they are likely to announce a deal in the next week. This is before the "open market" date which means that ESPN made a good enough offer for all of the AAC presidents to agree to without testing open market. This has to be a good thing. Most are speculating between 6-10 million per school. Which means 2-3 million for WSU likely. It also means a bit more stability in the conference going forward.
