I thought Marshall was entertaining the idea of a roadie for this last game on the schedule? If so, would have hoped for a H/H with a return next year, but apparently, it wasn't in the cards.

Newman is fine, just no more getting T'd up during an exhibition game. When Murry went down hard after that stunt last year he landed on his elbow and we may not know how close we were to losing him for several games.

Despite the fact that it is very difficult to schedule a good opponent, I believe there are some SNers who still think that the BB is not a good idea.

But this year doesn't have the all or nothing game. We're likely to play in the neighborhood of 10-12+ top 100 rpi games, more if the Valley is stronger than anticipated. As always, we need to win some.

Kudos to Gregg for adding Newman instead of a SWAC RPI-killer. I've bitched about this for years and need to throw props out now that we've wised up on how to best game the system.

I don't mind a game against Newman. It's an in-town school that doesn't get much local recognition for a D2 school. They don't get near the recognition that Emporia State, Fort Hays, Pittsburgh etc get.

It's a huge game for the players at Newman. It probably doesn't cost $80K to buy a game against Newman. That's in the neighborhood of what it costs to get a game against a D1 bottom-feeder. Newman might give the Shox a better game than an RPI 300 type D1 team.

This is a chance to give some deep bench players some experience. I'd just as soon do that against Newman as Prairie View A & M.

I would rather WSU went on the road/TV game and played a quality opponent that actually might help them with RPI.

I think we all would, and I believe, this season at least, the coaching staff would much prefer that scenario, but try as they might they couldn't make it happen.

I still say this is probably the best schedule since the 80s, and it's really hard to gripe about that.
