  • KATZ (once again)

    FROM ESPN:

"2. Which mid-major conference race are you most looking forward to?

    ...

Katz: The race between Wichita State and Creighton for the Missouri Valley title will be one of the more interesting in the country. The Shockers and Bluejays are veteran squads with momentum as Wichita won the NIT and CU is coming off a summer when two key players -- Doug McDermott and Greg Echenique -- had an impact on their respective national teams (USA and Venezuela). The WSU-Creighton games in the Valley should provide plenty of theater for a regular-season chase that will go down to the final weekend. The curveball in this conference could be Indiana State again. The Sycamores shocked everyone with a league tournament title last season. Greg Lansing has a bit of the Midas touch in Terre Haute and Indiana State shouldn't be taken lightly in this race."

Not badly written. I fixed it for the benefit of both fan bases.

INSU is Odum and 4 other guys. This year he is going to find things a lot harder.

Lathan is pretty salty when he's on his game.

I actually think there is some good solid talent other than Odum. Lathan is a stud, he just seems to suffer from spasms of lucidity.

Mahurin and McWhorter I really like. I'd love to have those kids for 3 more years.

Printy can shoot it big time, Richard and Walker are tough as nails.

It's not the Miami Heat, but they have some pieces.

That being said, unless they've reloaded unlike I think they have, next year is going to be a big step back without Lathan, Richard, Walker and Printy.

Yes he is. I consider Lathan, Carl Richard, Myles Walker and Jordon Printy all very solid Seniors. Printy hit 48% of his 3-pointers which I think lead the MVC. Lathan and Richard are very good athletes and Walker is a big (6'8", 250 lb), strong dude.

I think the question marks with INS is that they are not overly big inside and they may not be terribly deep.

They did nab a pretty good Gonzaga transfer (as did CU) that should see minutes at the 2/3. Mahurin and McWhorter, along with a big freshman are the keys to In St depth. They'll need some big progress from one of those kids to compete for the crown against WSU, CU, and any other late comers.

Why doesn't that Gonazaga transfer have to sit out a year?

Yes they do have a 6'10" RS Freshman. However, hard to say how polished he is at this point. The Shocks have had their share of big men projects and they can take a while to develop (if they ever develop). Maybe this kid is not a project but there was a reason he redshirt last year.

Found my answer. The Gonzaga transfer does have to sit out this year at INS.

Head men's basketball coach Greg Lansing has announced today (June 13) that Mangisto Arop (pronounced Man-GEESE-toe Rop) will be joining the Sycamores after being granted a release from his scholarship at Gonzaga University.

Arop, who will sit out the 2011-12 season due to NCAA transfer regulations, will have two years of eligibility remaining when he hits the court for Indiana State at the beginning of the 2012-13 campaign.

Why hold out our hats begging CU to acknowledge WSU as a rival? Make them beg WSU to recognize them. They seem to do a much better job than we do with regard to this issue...

If last year's game there is any indication, the Shox can't hit that curveball without having a foul called on them.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
