Is there a date set when this will be unveiled? Hearing Willis Reed is going to be here for it.

RH: Teammates Remember Stallworth's Spirit, Personality

The Dave Stallworth statue arrived Tuesday from the foundry in Colorado, traveling through the snow and ice, to Wichita for Saturday's 11 a.m. unveiling outside Koch Arena. The Shockers play Baylor at 7 p.m. Saturday, and Stallworth's teammates will be recognized at halftime.

Really looking forward to seeing this.

The wax/clay model for it looked pretty decent...a nicely done professional piece of work.

This is gonna be freakin' awesome! It will totally add to the aura that guests such as rival fans, media personnel, scouts, and NCAA staff experience when they arrive at Koch. It's a great day to be a Shocker!

What would be the criteria for a statue?

I think a person has to be THE GREATEST and 'Dave the Rave' checks all the boxes. The second statue might be a coach... that story continues to be written.

P.S. The Bardo is also working on a statue to be placed in front of the future Bardo Hall.

Good to outstanding coaches get bronze portrait reliefs. A coach who has great years at WSU and ends his career at WSU gets a statue.

I still think local legend Antoine Carr should get a statue at some point! Perhaps even X-Man!!!

Wasn't the catalyst for this primarily Dave's teammates who undertook the lead (responsibility?) for raising the funds and completing the project? Not sure how much then ended up raising but they had a goal of $200,000 for the statue and the WSU David Stallworth Memorial Scholarship for undergraduate students majoring in elementary or secondary education.

For Stallworth's teammates from those early 1960's teams and his fans, it is a fitting recognition for the greatest Shocker. For Powers, it is a tribute to his teammates and coaches and his way of filling a vital role after his playing days ended.

I don’t remember where I got the number but I read or heard a story that claimed the money raised to be $143,000.

HCGM will need a hologram, not a statue.
