  • Funniest thing I heard on the pre-game...

...was the fact that Gregg told Mike he would try to be 'more patient' with this group...:)

I'm not sure if the meltdown he had with Mitgaard over the missed bunnies was as big a stare down as Gregg gave Shaq in his technical game against Arkansas State, but it was close...:)

Those bunnies were the beginning of a long slide (backwards) of not scoring. Those bunnies, 60 percent foul shooting, and even rebounding would have been the difference in a win. It doesn’t take much but we weren’t close in the rebounding department.

This is what 3G talk about when he says we do the little things to win. Make easy bunnies, take smart shots, win the rebounding battle, make free throws, get the loose balls. This isn't high school ball where you can win just by having taller players or being more athletic than the opponent.

The fans are pulling so hard for Asbjorn and even 3G descibes him as a wonderful young man and I think Asbjorn is trying his hardest but my goodness I am not sure I remember two extremely easy shots being missed so badly. When you have a physcial speciman like Asbjorn you want ot give him as much time as possible to develop but you also want to see a gllmmer of hope along the way.

I will give Asbjorn some love for the blocked shot that he bounced of the La Tech player. And I think Asbjorn seems a bit more mobile and agile this year but it is certainly questionable that he will ever be athletic enough to play well at this level. Asbjorn still has a long, long way to go as do the other 3 big guys. I thought Morris looked the best in the exhibition game and Jaime was clearly the best big agaisnt La Tech.

I will point out that Taylor Elddridge did give Asbjorn a decent grade due to his defensive game.

"Asbjorn Midtgaard (6) Played a great defensive game and was an excellent rim protector for WSU. Strongly contested six shots, including one block, and made La Tech think twice about driving when he was on the floor. But missing back-to-back bunnies inside was killer. If he starts finishing those putbacks, watch out."

AM also guarded the inbound pass that resulted in a 5-second violation. Nice energy there!
