Puh-lease. Evansville would have beat any big 12 team that played tonight.
That garbage annoys me. (Not directed at you, by the way. You are just the messenger.)

You can't get every single advantage to succeed thrown your way (budget, recruiting advantages, media exposure, etc.) and then ask for mercy because you play in a tougher conference. You don't get to have your cake and eat it too. If it isn't fair that Buffalo, Utah State, etc. don't play in as strong of a conference, then trade them places...completely. Give up the millions of dollars from being a member of that conference. Give up the recruiting advantages that come with playing in a tougher conference. Give up the exposure that comes from regularly playing on national television. Have your fans watch home games against the Evansvilles of the world instead of the Kansas and Kentucky-type teams. Methinks that midding power teams aren't interested in that exchange.

I had beaten in me from a young age..."To whom much is given, much more is required."

They already get a second chance of redemption with the conference tourney. How many bites of the apple should a big time conference team that loses twice as many league games as it wins get?

Losses dont count for teams in the big 12. Just beat KU and all blemishes are forgotten/thrown out.

  • Martin having another 30 point game as Memphis leads Temple late by 10.

He's literally the difference between Memphis being under .500 and instead being 10-6 right now.

            • Does anybody know the number of teams with under .500 conference records that have made the tournament via an at large bid then last ten years? I’m too lazy to research.

One from last year was Oklahoma, they went 8-10 and got a 10.

And currently they are 5-10 with Lunardi having them safely in (not among the last 8) as a 10 seed.

2019 Bubble teams with losing conference records:

                50% - Saint John's, Big East (8-8)
                47% - Ohio State, Big Ten (8-9)
                47% - Texas, Big 12 (7-8)
                47% - Seton Hall, Big East (7-8)
                47% - Clemson, ACC (7-8)
                44% - Minnesota, Big Ten (8-10)
                40% - TCU, Big 12 (6-9)
                40% - Butler, Big East (6-9)
                33% - Oklahoma, Big 12 (5-10)

Wouldn't be surprised to see all of these teams get "At-Large" births in the NCAA Tourney.

With nearly half the bids (6) coming from the Big 12.

Seeing a trend with more losers getting in. So far, the precedent has been set with 2 games below .500 being the the worst to get in. Anyone think that gets broken this year? Also 5 teams was the most from getting last year. Anyone think that too gets broken this year?

It's getting out of hand with all of these conference losers getting invites.

                  • The target continues to shift every year. I also find it somewhat troublesome to see Cincy (with only 4 losses on the season) ranked way down in the 20's with the likes of Buffalo and Wofford.

In recent articles I've read the American may be the 6th best conference in all the land. Ranking the second best team in the conference Cincinnati at #23 seems awkward.

And suggesting a 5-10 Oklahoma team should be a tourney team just seems...well...asinine.

                  • I think we beat OU, OKState, WVU, and maybe TCU at this point in the season. OU is not nearly as good as we made them look. The others would be depend on where the games are played.
