In addition to the severe penalties put on USC, U AD Dee publicly chastised USC for their violations. This was after the younger Brown went to Tennessee to play for Lane Kiffin, who then resigned and took the head coaching job at USC.
Maybe Dee thought he was getting some revenge. It will be interesting to watch this unfold. Maybe the incest will catch up to the NCAA BCS. It is a farce.
I would be among the first to agree the NCAA itself needs to be investigated, and I would also agree that every University has its own Shapiro or similar booster.
BTW, as fine of a tooth comb that the NCAA investigated Butler and the Browns before, they had to have already known about this dinner.

Is that the same Paul Dee that is the current head of the NCAA Infractions Committee? You damn right it is. Is it the same Paul Dee that got a little righteous on USC’s sorry ass for not knowing what Reggie Bush’s parents were doing in San Diego? You damn right it is! Did you order the code red? YOU GOD DAMNED RIGHT I DID!!!

Perhaps but Shapiro was pretty sleezy. A real con-artist and I guess that can be taken literally now that he is incarcerated.

Must have been a few teeth broken on that NCAA comb.
There was a special on one of the sports channels recently about bounties being paid to little leaguers in the Miami area. It's engrained in their society down there, so not surpirsing it was also happening at the university.
NCAA doesn't have the integrity to do the right thing and pull the plug on this cesspool program. It's really a no-brainer but then again everyone has a price.

Just a thought. Actually, lots of possibilities above.
What is your feeling about the players that enjoyed the "benefits" presented to them by Shapiro? Should those current players, at Miami or other schools, be penalized in any way?
IMO, every HS player seeking an athletic scholarship KNOWS or SHOULD KNOW that accepting meals, cash, plane tickets, et cetera, from ANYBODY other than through the university on an Official Visit is NOT permitted. Therefore, some form of punishment should be assessed to those individuals, regardless of where they end up playing. Personally, I don't think one game is enough; perhaps a full season is too much.
In the case of the Browns now at KjSU, Arthur was enrolled at Miami when Shapiro paid for hotel rooms and took he and Bryce and parents and the hanger-on "advisor" for a $532 meal and $1100 in hotel bills. Neither Arthur nor Bryce should get off without some penalty, even though they are no longer at Miami. They did this more than Miami U did this.
What would you guys do?
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:
--------------------------------------- Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare: "We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said: "That's the definition of a stool sample."
I don't know the answer to that but it's a much bigger mess than how to deal with the individuals. The U will get major penalties and this will probably result in a long overdue complete overhaul of NCAA rules and oversight.
Miami should give up all wins during this time period. Be banned from postseason for five years. Lose 20 scholarships for 5 years and be on probation for the next decade. Something along those lines. One more incident and shut the program down.
Individual players that are still in college should miss 5 games for being involved in this.
My HS coach offered $20 and a trophy to anyone who would take out the opposing quarterback.
"If you're going to do it, you're going to do it right," athletic director Jim Schaus said. "If we're going to put 'Wichita State' across our chest, then every team is going to matter."

This is tricky because penalizing them games also penalizes KSU, who at this point is innocent.
Perhaps they should lose their final year of elegibility, but KSU should be given those scholarships back.
