And, no, KU or UK, also, wouldn't miss a beat if they only had three McDonalds AA's on their roster, instead of four. So we can agree to disagree.
I think you're so sure of Ellis going to a KU or UK that now you're deciding to blast him. Saying that he is the only one that has something to gain and not WSU is either pure bitterness or pure stupidity.

Saying that a top ranked recruit wouldn't be a loss if he didn't go to your school is blasting him. It is publicly saying that he isn't the player he has been made out to be. What in the world do you think blasting a player is?

another shocker, maybe you should refrain from Ellis-related comments for the next few months.

I'm sticking with WSU is an NCAA team without Ellis. WSU is an E8 team with Ellis.

The recent experience of KU not being an E8 team if they face a Valley team in the NCAA's could be a factor in WSU's favor.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

I'll second that. WSU will be a boarderline top 25 team without the local product, but might be consistent top 10 with Ellis. If you're top 10...well anything is possible in the dance (including a one and done).

Do you have something against Ellis? He has the opportunity to be POY in the MVC as a freshman. As much as I like the personnel on this team, they are not PE...or do you disagree with that? Serious question because I just don't understand where you are coming from.
                Agreed.
Probably the greatest high school player out of Wichita since Antoine Carr. WSU is certainly way better off with him. Without him, they will continue to be a strong MVC team. With him, the sky is the limit. Look what Butler did when they landed a couple NBA level guys.
                Absolutely agree.
I concur. And let the kid make a choice, without judgment on your part - you are not Ellis.
Not sure, Maggie, who the "without judgment on your part - you are not Ellis" was directed toward but I have posted on more than one occasion that Ellis is a very bright young man and he and his family will make the best choice for him, regardless of what anyone else says.
I agree with you and my comment was not directed toward you. I just felt that some of the posts, not yours, were getting a little hostile with regard to Ellis. The fact that he has kept WSU publically in the picture this long shows a lot of class.

Wow. I like playing "war games" as much as the next, but this "how good (or not) would we be with, without Ellis" in terms of Top 10, Elite 8 is almost humorous. At the beginning of the season who thought UConn was a Top 25 team last year, much less, a National Champion caliber team. At one point, Butler looked like a sure lock to NOT make the Dance, 14-9 and 6-5 in the Horizon. And then there's VCU.

Every year, how many really quality teams get knocked out early. Two years ago, if UNI / KU played 10 games against each other, do you really think UNI would have won most of them? Look at WSU's S16 run. We had a very good team, with great chemistry, who got hot, but them ran into a team who was hotter.

You want to try and put together the best possible team you can. No doubt, having Ellis will make you better, but how much better can be elusive. Sometimes, a good team will rely on a big star player to much and it causes them to not play as well as a team. Other times, that star player may instill lesser players to much greater heights. Is that star player filling a position that is a real weakness on the team or is he creating a bigger log jam at a position already strong?

My wish list, with or without Ellis, this year and in the future. Dominate the Valley comparable to what Gonzaga, Butler, and Xavier do. Win the regular season and post-season Valley championship, but regardless, play well enough to make the Dance. After that, it's somewhat of a crap shoot in the Dance and better rankings don't necessarily equal post season wins. With Ellis, I'll like our pre-season chances better and feel we should have a greater chance of landing better recruits, but basically, I just want to enjoy seeing quality basketball played at WSU by quality young men who enjoy being a part of the WSU family.

Talking about how much 1 single player could help a team is a crapshoot at best. If he isn't surrounded by good teammates, he isn't going to make that much difference. It doesn't hurt to have a couple of 'stars' on a team, but it is the overall teamwork that makes a team shine.

It very well could boil down to KU and WSU for Ellis, but I think KU probably has the edge. If Ellis picks WSU, and I am hoping he does, it will be because he feels WSU is on the rise (getting VanVleet sure helped), having his former teammate Wessel on the team, and the fact that his family and friends can all watch him play all home games.

I'd also throw in the mix that Buddy Hield his AAU team mate is looking at WSU. How we have room for 2 more guys without getting rid of some other scholarship players is beyond me, but what a class would it be if at the end of the signing period we land:

                                VanVleet
                                Henry
                                Ellis
                                Hield

Best recruiting class in nearly 30 years?
