Do you have something against Ellis? He has the opportunity to be POY in the MVC as a freshman. As much as I like the personnel on this team, they are not PE...or do you disagree with that? Serious question because I just don't understand where you are coming from.
    Agreed.
Probably the greatest high school player out of Wichita since Antoine Carr. WSU is certainly way better off with him. Without him, they will continue to be a strong MVC team. With him, the sky is the limit. Look what Butler did when they landed a couple NBA level guys.

My terribly unsupported thought - guess is probably more like it - is that WSU seems set up to be an NCAA team for a few years without Ellis. With Ellis, WSU has a legitimate shot at being an E8 team - maybe more than once.

Projecting anything for unknown players is usually an exercise in futility, but...
VanVleet, Ede, and White all look like players who will demand some minutes. Throw Ellis into that mix and Ellis becomes a 3/4 combo player, which will probably be his NBA assignment.

That could put Ede at SG. Hasn't there been some speculation that SG might be a legitimate spot for him?

If WSU doesn't get Ellis, Early or Thurman are the likely recruits to be targeted. Early is said to be a potential NBA guard, so a 3/4 combo seems like a good fit for him. Thurman looks like a 3/4 combo.

A lot of the recruiting seems to look at the possibility of putting Ede at SG - or at least giving him a look there. If that happens the two forward spots look like they'd go in the range of 6'7" and 6'8".
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I don't remember the speculation that Ede was a possible SG. I had read that his shot had "improved."

Baker is probably an SG. Wessel is a wing with some versatility. Cotton...SG or PG? I tend to think PG. As a senior, I see Williams playing mainly SG.

Of course, in the current offense, SG and SF are basically the same position.

I concur. And let the kid make a choice, without judgment on your part - you are not Ellis.

Not sure, Maggie, who the "without judgment on your part - you are not Ellis" was directed toward but I have posted on more than one occasion that Ellis is a very bright young man and he and his family will make the best choice for him, regardless of what anyone else says.

LOL Of course I don't have anything against Ellis. I wish him luck, equally, no matter what school he chooses to attend.. everything I've heard about him says he's a good kid. But he'll be the one missing out, not WSU, if he doesn't want to play on a Shocker team with Fred Van Vleet. <- There it is, wufan.. that's the second time I've said it.

And, no, KU or UK, also, wouldn't miss a beat if they only had three McDonalds AA's on their roster, instead of four. So we can agree to disagree.

You still haven't given a single reason why you think WSU would be no better a team with Perry Ellis than without him. None. Zip. Zilch.

I would agree to disagree, but I have no idea what your argument is. As wufan asked before: Do you think Ellis signing doesn't matter to WSU because you think he is overrated or because you think there is an equally good (or better) player we would sign instead?

I just don't see an argument here, so I don't know if we disagree. I guess if you say so then I'm okay with that. Is it that FVV is so darn good that you could put four walk-ons on the floor and WSU would run away with the Valley? FVV might (or might not) be the best PG in the Valley as an upperclassmen (or maybe before), but it's always helpful to the assist numbers to have super quick 6-9 guys with good hands that can finish.

I'll take that as an admission that you didn't really have a point or argument of any kind, because you've certainly been given more than enough chances to make it.

With or without Ellis, the Shox will be a team full of talent and to be respected. One that will do plenty of damage.

I think you're so sure of Ellis going to a KU or UK that now you're deciding to blast him. Saying that he is the only one that has something to gain and not WSU is either pure bitterness or pure stupidity.
