After SMU...the NCAA has shown little taste for instituting the death penalty.

The thinking, I believe, is that it is a killer of a decade and a half or more...and the NCAA does not want to kill programs, just give a strong disincentive to cheating.

The NCAA will get so mad at OU that they will give ORU three years probation...

I think they should drop a half-hammer. No post season, no OOC games, for the next two years. Forfeit all wins from last season and lose 2 scholarships for the next two years. Not as harsh as what a mid-major would get but it would send a message.

Yes but nothing much will happen on this. A secondary violation at best. It could be interpreted that the player was between tournaments, so probably a gray area.

A major violation while on probation for a major violation should be 2 years of no TV and 2 years of no post-season.

That's exactly what they'll do. The assistant to the assistant secretary of the athletic department will not be allowed TV interviews for 2 years, or be allowed to travel on the same plane as the team to post season tournaments (but may charter an alternate plane if their Ath. Dept. so chooses).

Or they'll keep OCU off TV for a couple years...
