    Scholarship Situation ‘18

    I just wanted a thread were I could see the current state of scholarships.

      We're loaded with 2s and 3s. I'd stick with 1s and stretch 4s with either two 1s or a 1 and 4.

      Can Reaves and Duff provide leadership to these guys? Should they? The reality is they are holdover from what was, in effect, a housecleaning. This team will take on the character of the new guys. I think one of the new guys will be the locker room leader, for better or worse.

        To me, house cleaning would insinuate we got rid of a bunch of guys that either we didn’t want, or that didn’t want to be here anymore. In reality, we had ONE scholarship player transfer. That’s very common. 6 guys graduating and one to the nba isn’t what I’d call a housecleaning.

        Hence the modifier "effectively." Result is the same. Massive roster turnover.

        Leadership will come from upper-classmen. Upperclassmen understand the expectation and will hopefully be leading by example as well as verbally. I expect Reaves and Markis to provide the leadership.

      Yes. It would not be odd for a new guy to become a leader too. Leadership is difficult to predict with certainty.

        If Marshall recruited a kid of high enough character to be the lockerroom leader in his first year, there will be a lot of good to come.

          Excited to see what is going to happen here. Two open scholarships with two recruits currently visiting (Torres and Burton). It seems like we are in a very good position for Alvarez and have also hosted Cheese.

            Torres or Cheese, and Burton would be my personal choices for the final scholarships available ( if Burton is a true one). Coach Marshall has shown a pattern of bringing in the guys they are most interested in as soon as possible. Never heard antything about Cheese visit, did anyone else get any information about how the visit went? Still think we may be in for another suprise if we get two point guards with atleast one scholarship coming open?

                I dont think it's crazy to suggest Miidtgaard could take up a leadership role as well. All indicators last year pointed to him being a handful for Morris at times, so hopefully he is able to build on that experience and be the sure choice for the starting center job
