Your defensive stance could use a little help. I think 3G is just the man for the job. :)

ShockdaWorld, That was me on OFFENSE. You didn't like my ability to dribble around the perimeter, wasting shot clock, and accomplishing nothing?

Damn. I’ll have to watch again. I thought that was you waving your arms on defense.

Clearly, the players on this team didn't try hard enough. or didn't magically flip the toughness switch. Or something. Even though they were the same players from last year's team that we all had an affinity for.

I think Reaves will be the guy that when he says where to go and what to do when you get there, IT WILL HAPPEN! Wouldn't surprise me in the least if Reaves is the guy who can back down Udeze if that's what's needed.
Reaves is the closest we have to Baker and FVV when it comes to attitude, and one thing last year's team needed in the worst way was some attitude. Kelly had some, but he was a bit reserved. We may have suffered from too many Sr's. They may have all started deferring to each other. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

There definitely wasn't much Playing Angry going on last year -- at least not by the Shocks, although we did see a good bit from Houston and Marshall (the Herd, that is), among others -- instead, it was mostly a year of talking about aspiring to Play Angry, which isn't quite the same thing. And we saw the disappointing results.
So I'm all for a culture shift. Reaves would certainly seem to be a leading candidate, but he also needs to step up his play with the game on the line. And Erik Stevenson seems to have the right attitude coming in. There's definitely reason for hope, but now the hope needs to be translated into action.

Agree with most. I think the culture of coach is what it is. The personnel didnt always live up to that culture. We were getting out cultured. Cincy and UH first and foremost. This conference matches our coach's personality 1000 times more than the MVC.
Gonna love the rock fights to come in the future.

This program needed a reset. When you look at the last 2 years, we definitely took a step back from the Baker/Van Vleet era. There was a lot of hype and a lot of national rankings, but there wasn’t much else. The group we have coming in is going to get us the old mojo back, I think. We just need a stuf point guard who’s ready to step up and lead the way.

I think there is quite a bit of exaggeration about the "step back". Let's not forget just how good last year's team was minus FVV and Baker. This year, one more shot from Conner falling would have won the AAC championship, and a few more plays vs Marshall and this season is barely a disappointment at all.
Step back? I guess, but not as extreme as some make it out to be.

Agree with JH4P (yes, really!) -- this season, which was a very good one by most standards, was a disappointment to us and thus shows where the WSU program is these days; but you can count plays or shots on the fingers of one hand that would have made it very satisfying and longer lasting. So a reset is needed, but it's not exactly as if rot has set in.

You said it WSUwatcher . It ain't often, but when a person is right, they are right so props to Jamar Howard 4 President for getting this one right. One shot, and a really good shot that missed by a couple of inches from an AAC ring. A couple of other games where about 6 things had to go right for the other team and wrong for WSU to give the Shocks a loss. And still, another 25 win season. Pretty damned good, regardless of expectations.

Whatever it takes to get back to winning the 50-50 balls, valuing every possession, and making opponents grind out half-court scores (with very few second chance points). I think 3G is doing what needs to be done.
Also, when I reflect on all the "new" that will be with WSU next year I always think about the KUs/Dukes/Kentuckys/UNCs of the world who seem to have turnover every year...and seem to bounce back with relative success every time. Yes, I know I am talking about Blue Bloods with 5*s and McDonald's All-Americans, I'm just saying it can happen and it gives me hope for next year that this team may just be better than what I expect it to be.
