Marshall looked hungry. We looked lackadaisical. The game could be summed up by the play where we got the steal, and just nonchalantly dribbled with no awareness and got it ripped from behind. Every opportunity we had to bury them, we relaxed and let them up for air (weak af turnovers, not pounding it in to shaq, shooting like dog crap, etc). Credit to them though, because in this game we were Kelly Oubre, and they were Zach Brown. So much one could say, but in the end we just need some gritty dudes to sign on the dotted line, and get ready for next year. Connor is exempt from this rant, as he let his nuts hang.

It certainly was not 100% his fault, however. The mountains are calling, and I must go.

Having 4 fives recruited for next year is a horrible sign.
Marshall’s Head Coach gets this. We put a bunch of dudes in the way of our best players. They space the floor and let the best players operate.

March Madness: Wichita State crippled by lengthy blown replay in upset loss to Marshall - CBS Sports
Everyone except the officials seemed to know that ball was off Marshall's Jannson Williams
by Kyle Boone
A prolonged video replay by the officials during Friday's game between Wichita State and Marshall appeared to be called inaccurately and, ultimately, might have cost the Shockers a key possession in their 81-75 upset loss.
In the final minute, Marshall and Wichita State players battled for a rebound in the paint when the ball flew out of bounds in a battle down low. The initial call on the floor was Marshall ball, but an instant replay clearly showed the ball tip off Jannson Williams, meaning Wichita State would get the ball back down three with 36.2 seconds left.

No question they blew the call on the late out of bounds play, and they blew the one Doc mentioned too -- and both were key, costly mistakes. Not one of TV John's better games (nice tan, though).
But the Shocks outdid Higgins and crew on mistakes today by probably a factor of ten, so all the refs did was keep WSU from stealing a game they should have been able to win comfortably. Very disappointing, especially for Frankamp, who deserved much better.

Let's give Marshall their due, they executed their offense very well with very little disruption from us. They wanted for us to play their game and we did exactly that - kudos to them for drawing us in.
We needed more outside presence instead of Conor and Willis today. Austin was 0-fer from the 3 point line today. He needs to bulk up and improve his conditioning over the off-season. I'm a firm believer that more playing time down the stretch was detrimental to his game. He's a slender fella and I'm thinking the minutes down the stretch fatigued him. Over his last 5 games he shot 23% from the field and 9% from the 3-pt line. Shooting is all in your legs and he had to have been fatigued .

Our guards are slow. They can't stay in front of anybody on D. They can't beat defenders into the paint with the ball, and they can't make moves to get angles to make entry passes to the post.
We can't really play that "spread the floor and let somebody go to work" game. Our guy who can play that type of game with the ball in his hands is SHJ, and there's a reason he wasn't recruited out of HS.The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
