They're probably still hiring in The Valley....

This is a job had we not moved into the American I’d be worried about. Marshall and Calhoun are similar in coaching styles plus they’re both hard nosed, blue collar, self made men. He’d fit what the UCONN fanbase has been missing since he retired. So I could have seen them making a hard push him if we were still in the Valley but you can’t make a push for another coach in your conference unless you’re 100% confident you’ll get him and that coach will have no problem facing his old team year after year which I’m pretty sure The Marshall’s don’t have the stomach for.
If you're not going to go all the way, why go?

Marshall is not a Northeast kind of guy. I would have never been worried about this job.

They’d like it a lot more if they were good.

True. That is more of a UConn problem than an AAC problem. They didnt end up being the team they are now because of the AAC.

Wonder what the “just cause” is ....

UConn has parted ways with Kevin Ollie, as the school announced it has "initiated disciplinary procedures" to fire the coach who helped lead the program to a national title in his second season at the helm in 2014.

The "just cause" is they don't want to pay his buyout.

Maybe the NCAA investigation into his recruiting?

I've heard the violations are minor: illegal workouts and such.

I like our AD a lot. It had to be done.

                From the AAC BBS

Rumor has it AD Benedict offered a pay settlement for Ollie to resign on his own and respectfully part ways. Ollie refused to resign and challenged Benedict's ability to terminate Calhoun's prodigy.

Hurley (URI) is the top target IMO. I would totally support Chris Jans...

The AAC needs that 4-5 teams going into the big dance. Imagine if UConn would have played up to par. We would have taken 4 teams. Tulsa just doesn’t have that caliber yet. But we all know that UConn will be contender next year especially with a new coach.
