  • Ill State Guard gets kudos from Scout's Brian Snow

THOUGHT THIS MIGHT BE OF INTEREST AS FAR AS VALLEY NEWS GOES --

    From ESPN "Insiders" Rumors:

"Nic Moore may not be the highest-rated guard in the state of Indiana but the 5-foot-10 guard committed to Illinois State last summer and over the past year, has made significant upgrades to his game. In the recent Indiana Junior-Senior All-Star game, Moore played well enough to earn a shout-out from Scout's Brian Snow.

"In his recruiting rundown, Snow praises Moore's defensive skill and notes that Moore could potentially be an all-Missouri Valley player for Tim Jankovich.

"To shore up the backcourt, Illinois State's 2011 recruiting class is very guard-heavy. The influx of guards will help ISU's assist rate, which dipped severely last season."

The sad thing for Illinois State fans is that they already know what Jank can do with a POY-caliber player and it isn't too exciting.

I'm kinda surprised when any highly ranked recruit would sign for him. The HC's scheduling really sucks. (don't know if I can put balls here? But it fits.) Then they are totally unable to compete at the MVC level and get slaughtered at that level.

Didn't want to start another thread, but here's one for Indiana State:

        ESPN "Insiders" Rumors:

Former Gonzaga swingman Mangisto "Manny" Arop has decided to transfer to Indiana State after also considering Valparaiso.

The 6-foot-6 Arop played over 800 minutes in two seasons in Spokane, and decided to leave the Bulldogs' program in April after averaging just 15 minutes per game as a sophomore.

Guards Dwayne Lathan and Carl Richard both are entering their final season at Indiana State, so Arop figures to be featured prominently in the Sycamores' rotation once he's eligible to play in 2012-13.

"He can do everything. He can score off the dribble and from the outside, but the nice thing is that he's a big guard who can post up and score," ISU coach Greg Lansing told The Tribune-Star. "He's also a tremendous rebounder."

Keep in mind that he also inherited a woeful center in Odiakosa and turned him into an All-MVC player who earned POY votes.

As for Nic Moore, he deserves every bit of hype and praise that he receives. Our current roster situation will allow him to earn all the playing time he wants. Barring injury, he will make a run at MVC FOY.

I'm not saying that he hasn't shown an ability to develop individual talent, but even with that talent, the team product has been disappointing. Those Eldridge-Odiakosa teams were individually talented, but didn't live up to the individual merits of those players in the team standings.
