  • Bradley 5th year senior tears acl at pick up game

Read this over on the Bradley board. Their 5th year senior tore his acl in a pick up game, and is done for the season, and I imagine his career since he already used a medical redshirt.

Bradley fifth-year senior center Will Egolf tore the ACL in his right knee during an open gym this week and could miss all of next season, the school announced on Wednesday.

Egolf suffered a similar injury during his sixth game of 2008-2009 season and sat out the rest of the year. He was granted a medical redshirt that season.

Egolf started 31 games and averaged 8.0 points and 4.1 rebounds for the Braves last season. He was expected to be a key contributor this season for first-year Bradley coach Geno Ford.

If he wants it, I wouldn't be surprised if he was granted a 6th year because of this.

Can they do that? I just thought you got one medical red shirt.

They can, but it is rare for them to do so. They usually stick to the 4 in 5 policy (4 years of eligibility over a 5 year span), but it is a case by case decision.
