Hell of a player. I watched him at Hutch and WSU both. Prolly was 58 (I think).

Rich was a year ahead of me at Wyandotte so he was probably 59 or 60. I was on the track team with him and he was a great athlete -placed 3rd in the high and low hurdles at the state track meet his senior year. And of course led Wyandotte to a 23-0 championship year in 1970 hoops.

Rich was a fun guy. He always liked to come home from a track meet with a little "five fingered" keepsake. At the KU Relays my junior (his senior) year he decided his keepsake would be a shot belonging to the then world record holder Karl Salb of KU. Several of us were resting in a locker room under the stadium towards the end of the meet when Salb came stalking in (he was a huge human being) angrily wanting to find the "SOB from Wyandotte" that took his favorite shot. Needless to say we all denied any knowledge thereof and vacated the premises. And Rich kept the shot.

        RIP

I remember the mask he wore when he broke his nose. Always appreciated his tenacity and ability to excell against taller opponents.
