  • my first pick up game this summer

I took my grandaughter to a group volleyball lesson, with Jeff. At a break I noticed a pickup game in the arena was going on. I watched about 15 minutes of the pickup game. JT, Clevin, Demetric, Ben Smith, and R Vautraver (walkon 2010) were playing J walker (walkon 2010) Joe R., Toure, Jerome H. and someone I did not reconize. Watching on the sideline was Graham, Kyles, E Wessel and Ede Egharavba. There two others I did not recognize. One I think may have been T. Cotton, based on his picture on SN. , not sure though.

I only watched for 15 minutes because my grandaughters volleyball lesson was over and I needed to pick up her sister.

TM was the best player today of the only game I saw, he was hitting shots, making very nice passes, rebounding and playing well in all areas.

JT took all his shots behind the arc except for one post up om walker.

I had forgotten how sweet clevin's shot is and how quick he can get it off. He was in a zone at one point hit 4 3's in a row.

Demetric and Joe both looked very solid and at times very good running the point for both teams. Both looked to pass first and both did some very nice penetration then dish and some penetration and finishing.

Ben had two very nice passes for assists, he did not look to shot a lot but was content to let others score.

Walker looked very nice, his motor was in 4th gear and broke loose for a couple nice feeds from joe and ben.

All the players looked extremly buff, and in good shape. I did not see anyone sucking air too bad.

I only watched for 15 minutes and apologize for the lack of more information.

FYI another person watching told me they started playing around 2:45pm

Mr. Cotton is in town and I am sure that was him.

If I knew they'd be playing this afternoon I'd go since I get off early today. I may or may not head there anyway and take my chances.

It sounds like Jerome may now be a part of the team if he was actually playing. I can't imagine that he would be spending the summer in Wichita if he wasn't planning on being a part of the team this upcoming season.

Someone stated on another thread-correctly I would expect-that JH needs to get his schoolwork done regardless of where he ends up. The fact he's in pickup games isn't surprising. What's Clev doing in town?

I suspect for camps. Coach said some former Shockers would be helping out. I bet Clev is one of them.

I believe spring semester classes ended a few weeks ago and I doubt he would be taking a summer course if he was planning on going elsewhere.

Unless getting all his grades in order required him to take a few classes. IF he's struggling it may be required by anybody he's talked to about making sure he's eligible before they'll let him transfer in. I believe we had a possible transfer a few years back that took summer classes at whatever school he was at to try and get eligible and please the staff....and failed.

This isn't high school where you take a few summer courses in order to advance to the next grade. There is a spring semester and once it's over, it's over. Most of the rules regarding transfers are from 2 year colleges to 4 year schools. It is entirely possible that he is trying to get his GPA to 2.00 before transferring. I'm not an expert but haven't most transfers announced that they will be transferring by now?

Jerome is really close to some of the players, so it doesn't surprise me he is still hanging around regardless of his future.

If JH hasn't set his destination yet there are several reasons while he may be here. No where to go?
