  • WSU Versus Temple Predictions and Pregame Discussions

Here's the deal. The Shocks leave the confines of home sweet home and do a 360 to sunny Philadelphia to play the Temple Owls. Reminds me of the ole song by "The Who" as the Shocks go on the cold and lonely road that says "Who are you who, who, hoo, hoo. I really wanna know!!!" After all, the owls do give a hoot when playing at home so look for no cheery rainbows, brotherly luv, lollipops, butterflies, sugar-n-spice or nicey nice from the Owls. Instead, lurking around the bend will be Quinton Rose, Obi Enechionyia, and Shizz Alston who are among their best players. Temple is 10-10 and 4-4 at home. This is Far from an easy win but WSU have to win such games as Cinn. still have no AAC loses and our beloved Shocks have 2.

Shaq be nimble, Duff be quick, LS rain 3's over the candlestick. These 3 were my tripod foundation before the Season that I have been chirping about. However, enter Austin (bringing and ringing in the 3's and wheat sheaves) Reaves, Willis, and Kelly also pitching in some nice icing on the black and yellow cake. To do such feats on the road, we also need CF to get hot again, have less than 10 team turnovers again for 3 games in a row, and keep sharing the ball. Our bench was 51 versus Tulsa 4 tonight which is substantial and we need to clean glass like angry hyenas..

Before the Season started, all publications, mags, and prognosticators picked the Shocks to win the AAC. In the meanwhile, back at the AAC ranch, the Coaches took exception to the new guys on the block meddling with their fizz and picked us 2nd. Right now, they are correct and have been up for our young guns trying to rough us up a bit and always come prepared and gunning hard for us. That's exactly what Shockerland wanted and now our Shocks have even tougher challenges coming up soon on the Back 9 that has the backload big games awaiting us. This is all good if the Shocks are up for it and I say #11 will lead us with 22 points and Shaq will again attack and rule the paint. It has been said that Owls are not supposed to turn heads around over 270 degrees? The angry Shocks will turn their heads more, clip their wings, bag them, and leave them with a Shocker win and surpass of 11 points.

Here I planned a Masterpiece for y'all and this is all I mustered up. However, it was never about me anywho, but rather my favorite team in all of sports forever!!! Always was and Forever will be our Wichita State Shockers!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hoo Hoo Hoot-----------------66

Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Temple can be much better than their record says. Very dangerous game. The Owls and shredding UConn tonight.

Cincy fans will tell you playing @Temple is not at all easy. Always a brawl for them, even when on paper it looks one-sided.

Temple is an enigma. Capable of beating and losing to almost anyone. But you better believe they'll get outta bed for this game. I'm kind of nervous again, because this one could be considered a bad loss based on their resume.

REALLY need Landry and Conner find their shot this game.

                  Shockers - 85
                  Temple - 79

Time for Landry and Conner to break out of their shooting slumps. Conner just looks tired to me. I still question whether he is totally healthy. I know when I had the flu that's going around it just totally zapped my energy levels for a couple weeks.

Landry is clearly pressing. We just need him to relax and play basketball. It will come back. Probably needs to think less about it and not more. Like I said just go out and play basketball as hard as you can and let his instincts take over.

Both LS and CF are shooters, good shooters. All they need to do is to hit one or two and either
or both can catch fire. Fortunately, their shooting slumps came at a time where
we still won all three games. Their shooting is the least on my list of things I'm concerned about.
The next couple road games I am confident they return to form. Also expect MM to start looking
more like the MM of last season. LS 15, CF 14 and MM 11 Thursday night. SM and DW also
score double digits and RK gets nine boards. RN seven pts, five boards and continues his solid
defense. Shocks break open a close game with about eight minutes to go to win 79-69.

At what point does 4 years of college numbers start to be used instead of high school legends? Frankamp is a career 38% 3pt shooter who has rarely 'caught fire.' That's nothing to sneeze at, and he's a piece this team needs, but I don't think I'm holding my breath any longer for the game Frankamp 'catches fire' and 'goes off.'

Keep in mind that Frankamp’s 38% isn’t exactly other players’ 38%. His 3s aren’t quite as easy. 38% on the 3s that he takes is a nice weapon to have. I think him being unable to “catch fire” or “go off” is due to other teams focusing on not letting him get 3s off combined with his height limitations. I’m not sure AR gets all his 3s off last night if he were 4 inches shorter. We’re kind of making the same point here but I think labeling him as just a 38% 3 point shooter doesn’t paint the whole picture.

To Cdizzle's comments - I am still amazed at the number of times CF receives a pass two seconds late or way off target. We still struggle to kick out to shooters on a consistent basis.... On the other hand the interior passing is really good.

I'd feel better if Temple hadn't just sent UConn to the woodshed. Should make for a good scout, though.

Yes, Memphis beat UConn badly a couple of weeks ago. However, this past Thursday UConn beat SMU by 11 before Temple took them to the woodshed yesterday.

That sald Temple only beat Tulsa at home by 1 (59-58) a couple weeks ago.and then a week ago lost big to Cincy 42-75 before going crazy against UConn yesterday. Also Temple only lossed to Cincy at home by 2 earlier in the year.

I guess what we don't know is which Temple team will show up. Of course, we might say the same thing about the Shockers as well.
