EXACTLY. This could be mucho important. If there were more votes from WSU site than all the other sites combined, for example, and they voted for one coach, then that coach would by definition receive more votes than Marshall could possibly have.

I'm actually trying to figure out how to get that spreadsheet on the site -- I'll figure it out soon -

For the record, ShockerNet had the second most participants. MSU's BearNation beat you by seven.

I could care less what other fans think. We have the best coach, hands down. The fact that HCGGGM's name comes up for every vacant position is proof enough.

If you really want to account for the difference in voting blocs would be to weight the individual results. But someone who has more time than I to figure out the math would need to do that.

Ok, someone can check my math here, but I took the median between the lowest vote total (DU - 23) and the highest (MSU - 79), which is 51. Since MVCFans isn't a single school and a very small percentage of the total I left it out. I divided the median by each bloc's total votes and came up with the following multipliers:

                      Code:
                      BU 0.86 (combined sites)
                      UNI 0.85
                      ISU 1.70
                      INSU 1.09
                      SIU 2.04
                      MSU 0.65
                      DU 2.22
                      WSU 0.71
Mayhem, if you'll apply those multipliers to each coach's vote totals from those blocs/sites, then retabulate I think you'll get results that are properly normalized for internet fanbase size. McDermott and Simmons will still rate a little high. I don't know how to account for that.

The fact that anybody voted for Lowery is ample demonstration that thus was just for fun and a time-filler (or killer) during the offseason.

In addition to some voters obviously not taking this seriously, there's the "popularity contest" that's always an element in polls like this. For Marshall and WSU to seem ranked a little low in polls like this demonstrates that other teams' fans don't like WSU or Marshall. I think that's a good thing.

I bet if there was a poll like this for baseball coaches, that Mean Gene, aka Krusty, would probably finish last, which isn't much of an indication of his ability to coach in the league.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
