Laced 'em up and hit the hardwood back in the 80's. Played all through school and on to a long career. Hit the game winning shot back in '96 and had a couple appearances on the big stage. Offically retired. Living out of state now and without giving out my "real" name I'm sure most of you recognize me in my profile picture. Yes I'm that guy...

I played against Dreiling in grade school, two years in high school and intramural ball at WSU in the old gym. Played matador defense against Jumpy Gathers - that dude was a badass.

In junior high, I played against Randy Smithson (in a tournament third place game). I ended up, in High School, being honorable mention All-State in the State that invented “March Madness”....I then got old and fat (wasn’t supposed to happen). That ended my basketball dreams (I think they completely ended when I turned 45).

My closest brush with playing organized basketball was being gym proctor and sometimes having to fill in as the 10th man at Robinson Junior High where the star of the team was Jamie Thompson."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I played a ton in Henrion with Randy. He had those patched up cut offs he wore almost all of the time. Played quite a bit with Reuben Eckels as well. High School team went 17-4 my last year in spite of my presence. Most telling moment was I was playing with 4 other guys in an intramural game in Henrion and we scored around 120 points with a running clock. We added up the scoring that the other guys thought they scored and it left me with over 60. I walked over to my new girlfriend who watched the entire game, feeling a lot full of myself. Sashayed in for a peck with a big smile. She looked at me and said, "Did you play well?" Informing her of my hooping prowess, she responded, obviously unimpressed, "I Really liked it when John (not me) got that dunk" Told her maybe he would buy her dinner.......obviously the relationship ended.Robin Roberts: "My mother used to say, when you strut, you stumble."
