By the way - I do not feel my comments are a negative against the new assistants. I really think it takes a while to build the two way trust it takes to work well together in pressure situations.

As I said earlier, I also think it can take time for coaches to grow into their jobs, and another poster astutely noted that Marshall himself may need to grow into his own role here in a tougher conference. But there's lots of basketball left -- time for McDuffie to regain his form, for some of the newer players to continue to grow, and for both Marshall and his staff to get better. These reminders that it all needs to happen can be kind of startling and unpleasant, but progress will be made.

I sat behind the bench for at least one of those “games” a year and that “thinker” was Jan’s. When Jan’s was gone, we didn’t have that trusted thinker for a while. Eventually Forbes grew into the role.
I was behind the bench during the OU game. If you could hear some of what was said you would know that HCGM is on his own when things aren’t going well. The new guys are mute and it is a one-way conversation (HCGM yelling at them to come up with something).
Watch old game film and you can almost always see a pre-huddle conversation. It was Jan’s speaking to HCGM with HCGM nodding in agreement.
The only time I have noticed anything close to Jan’s style was Jones early in the UCONN game.
HCGM requires another alpha coach...
And unfortunately, that's not something that fixes itself or improves itself over the course of the season.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

He’s the best WSU coach ever and we just need to show at games and trust in his decisions. In 63-64 we chased off our HOF coach Ralph Miller after we lost to a KSU team we shouldn’t have in the NCAA. Let’s not run off another HOF coach.

WSU has played a lot of tough road games this year already, probably more than anyone, in sheer numbers, in the country, with many to come. They need some R&R for the home stretch, ala Bobby Knight when he was coaching the Hoosiers. Walk through's. Give 'em some valuable rest to regenerate the batteries.
Then simultaneously Rearrange the line-up as well (obviously). It hurts the team having a player *or two* out on the floor who demonstrate a "triple threat" position that means dribble the ball of your foot, throw the ball away, and/or shoot a serious brick (air ball).
Just throwing it out there. In GGG we trust.

The product WSU fans expect is not a top ten team, it’s not burger boys, it’s not even NCAA berths or championships. It’s hustle, plain and simple. The players needs to bust their balls on both ends, SASO contributors deserve to see a sell out defense. I think everyone will agree a team with offensive woes and a sell out defense is preferable to a high octane offense with a cheese cloth defense that can’t adjust. Losing Jans and Heier and Forbes hurts like hell. I expect our 3.5m coach to hold his highly paid assistants to a higher standard. The culture demands it.

No you are a micro-manager and want to oversee things that only the coaching staff know. I'm saying that's Marshall's responsibility and you don't know enough because are outside looking in, to take your rediculous position to fire Asst. coaches.
-
One, how is expecting the deficiencies to be fixed “micromanaging”? Micromanaging would be saying the players should eat xyz before a game or that all their socks should be the same, not that the game day coaching needs to improve. Saying that game day coaching needs to improve is like saying the sky is blue or grass is green.
Two, state your credentials or get off this “you don’t know what you are talking about” shtick. The point about the assistants has already been proven ten fold. Either present evidence or stfu.
Three, I never said anything about just firing assistants. I’m saying they need to improve and learn because Gregg doesn’t miss a day of shaving.

Shockernet is a lot better without you.
It sounds like message boards are a bit too much for your psyche. Might wanna just stick to magazine reading that's more your speed:
