Tulsa Sports section said that it was the first time in a decade that the Reynolds center had been a sell out. According to an athletic admin person it was a good thing but sad that it took almost 4,000 fans of the opposing team to do it.

No idea where to put this, so a thread about how good things are right now seemed like a good spot.
Snapped this photo while walking in a Target in Maryland -- did a triple take and then checked out the rest of the sports section. That pile of WSU hats was the only sports apparel for a team not in Maryland.
I'm still not sure what the cause of it is. The new Navy-AAC connection? But there weren't even any Navy shirts/hats. Also, they only had children's sizes.

I'm with ShockTalk. That'd be a pretty obscure connection -- supporting a team because your moderately successful coach used to coach there two stops and 10+ years ago?
Also, I'm a grad student at UMD, and I frequently wear Shocker gear on campus. I've never had the impression anyone on that campus recognized the Turgeon-Shocker connection. I've had a few comments supporting the team in general, but never in relation to Turgeon.

Pretty cool. Regardless of the reasons, Shocker Nation is growing and continues to show itself as a national brand.

I think you can see how special it is at Wichita State, just by turning on the TV and seeing half empty arenas for very good teams.
I had to tell my kids that full arenas are the exveption, not the norm. For the most part, all they see are WSU and KU games with packed arenas."When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!
