Everything else I have read from USM fans echos the same sentiment. They are really, really frustrated with losing Heiar.

When a coach is at a Junior College, he isn't recruiting JUCO players to come to his school, he is recruiting high school kids. That doesn't mean every JUCO coach has good high school connections, but many successful JUCO coaches do.
I understand that, but some coaches don't do a lot of recruiting and get a lot of players "placed" at the school. I think a lot of these JUCO coaches know and get along with other JUCO coaches and when they move up, that's a lot of what they work with. I know it doesn't mean that's what it is with this guy, but it is a concern that I have with any guy who's predominately been in JUCO ball.

Dana Ford is as sharp an assistant coach as I've ever seen at WSU in nearly 30 years. Tad and Chris would be ahead of him, but this guy has it all. There is no reason at all he won't be hugely successful.

I am thrilled he's back. I feel bad for Coop, but I think he'll be ok.

I don't know anything about Heiar, but if he's anything like the other 3, we're going to be just fine.

I think we just upgraded the staff.

He was the first person I thought of when Dollar left. I really didn't think he'd leave the southeast for Wichita. I like the Heiar hire!

Is this Eric Sexton's succession plan?

Coach Marshall: This is who I want to hire.

AD Sexton: Fine. Let me know, if I can do anything further.

                Coach Marshall: Thanks.

Would that make him the logical choice to become the big man coach?

Interesting. 2 asst. coaches leave and the replacements all have ties to the remaining guy. That indicates Marshall has a ton of confidence in Jans. The coaching staff also got younger.

With the confidence Marshall seems to have in Jans, it looks like he will be the assoc. head coach. That pretty much eplains the situation with Gross. He gets to move a step closer to a HC spot at aTm-CC which he wasn't going to do here, and he moves closer to where he grew up. Probably a good move for all concerned.

USM fans are expecting several recruits to de-commit. WSU has an open "mystery" scholarship to give. Stay tuned. This could get more interesting.

Succession plans? Associate Head Coaches? We spent a month worrying about every BCS job out there and Gregg says he's happy right here in DooDah. Still many presume an imminent departure. Why? Are we that insecure?

I feel a little better now that I know a little bit more about his recruiting.

Can someone provide a link to the free Southern Mississippi forum?

And I still have questions regarding who will recruit Texas?
