What we all know about WSU, but it is very surprising to see that Butler does not fill Hinkle more than it does.

Good find. Very interesting approach.
Really surprised by George Mason, Butler, Pittsburgh, and Temple. Anytime you get above 15,000 seating, the % of capacity could suffer, so BYU can be forgiven if they "only" drew an average 18,700. I'm not sure the same can be said for Ohio St.
Maybe one of our Mason posters can give us a better view of their surprising numbers.

It is a good analysis, but as ST pointed out, there needs to be some threshold for which a fan base (like BYU) is above criticism.
Enrollment, alumni base, city size, conference affiliation and arena capacity are all factors that would go into an ideal analysis.
RTC is on the right path but could probably go even further. Someone call Ken Pomeroy.

See 3G....we are better than South Carolina...by 1 fan per game! :D
I'm skeptical of some of these numbers...as I know lots of schools give the students a few thousand seats that are counted. And some of BCS bottom-feeders look like they fudge their numbers a bit by some of the games I witnessed.

So season tickets as a constant + walk-up/single-session + students (however they do that)?

From a fiscal perspective of the school, yes, but not for a judge of consistent atmosphere and overall fan exuberance (which I think is probably the point of comparing these figures).

Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
