  • Shocker Seniors to play in Cheney

I presume that all the 5 graduating guys will be included. They are playing a typical exhibition against a few of the Cheney coaches, etc. Might be fun to watch. It is to be held Saturday, April 30 at the Cheney HS gym. There is an autograph signing session, etc.

Is this a fundraiser for Cheney booster club or something?

Really dunno. I have family in Cheney which is why I have the info. In some other thread, somebody mentioned that Gabe Blair is working at Lubbers Ford at Cheney, maybe that's the deal.

That would be a good excuse to grab a brew or two, as well ...

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Was well worth the 45 minute drive from Park City to Cheney. Garrett Stutz and Toure were also at the event signing autographs and watching the game from bench.

The competition was less than stiff to say the least so it was a walk in the park for the Shockers.

They had a raffle, silent auction, and live auction. The live auction included a NIT game ball from the CoC game signed by the players that went for 575, Graham Hatch game worn signed jersey that went for 300. I was absolutely stoked about winning the Graham Hatch game worn autographed shorts for 80. My 3 year old daughter had had enough after 2 1/2 hours so we left before the second half started. Someone else will have to update the final half.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

Lot's of dunks from Aaron and Gabe. Threes were raining down as well from everyone, even Aaron hit one. Derek and Gabe also hit half-court shots. That's the GlobeTrotters game it was. Gabe even went 10 rows up into the stands along the baseline to shoot one. Final score was 139-139 on a 19-point dunk from Graham Hatch at the buzzer. Great comeback for the Shox.

Shox were up 74-57 at the half so the score was flipped to give the Shox a challenge. I'm sure by that point no one was paying attention to the scoreboard, they were just hamming it up. However, the All-Stars, led by Sean Osler from Cheney HS tore it up from three point land and wouldn't let the Shox cut into the lead. Gabe should really go play for the Globe Trotters, he knows all the gags.

For the second half, they flipped the score so the seniors were down to start. It was fun to watch. The boys had a great time messing around without getting hurt. Gabe was making shots from the half court line and even tried a shot from the side from about 6 rows up in the stands. It almost went in. Plus his fancy dunks were fun to watch. With about 5 minutes left in the game, the announcers started giving multiple points for spectacular shots. The biggest one was the slam dunk by Graham Hatch (with a boost from Gabe Blair) for 14 points which tied the score as the clock expired. Our boys played all 40 minutes while the other team had 3 extra players to sub in and out so they were very exhausted when they were done, but they continued to sign autographs and play with the young kids until everyone was pushed out the door. I hope they do more events like this in the future.
