They've had some respectable teams. The thought has to be, do you think they can do more with the program if they can sell the Valley as well? Conference affiliation can help some schools achieve more. Just have to wonder if ORU is one of those schools.

Although, with the current trend line of the Valley, I'm not sure it's helping anybody...
Instead of trying to sell a 4th rate conference, they could try to sell their program in a 3rd rate one.

Actually, a negative for ORU joining the MVC would be KU dropping them from their schedule. :D
Marge: The plant called and said that if you don't come in tomorrow, don't bother coming in Monday.
      Homer: WOOHOO! Four day weekend.

12 team conference usually means 2 divisions of 6 teams.

We'd probably be stuck with MSU, ORU, Creighton, STL and probably UNI.

        Whoopie.
actually, I'd take that over two games with SIU, evansville, InST

Somebody needs to convince the Big 12 that we need to be their 10th team, for baseball only, right now.

          F the Valley.

If the Valley says screw you, then I dance in the streets. We'll find another conference.

"hey big 12 our crappy baseball program would like to join the league. Being associated with you guys would allow WSU to recruit against 4 other programs all within a 2-2.5 hour drive of Wichita. In return you would get a 10th team for baseball."

Yep I don't see that happening.

We already recruit against them, and who we go after isn't going to change much.

              The numbers make sense.

Agree or not, but NOBODY is looking to spend more money on baseball, and FINALLY our location works in our favor.

Again, like it or not, it is good competition for everyone. If we end up being the worst team, so be it. At least we go down fighting.

                I would LOVE it.

My point being is the Big 12 would not.

It would give a boost to WSU baseball, which happens to sit smack dab in the middle of 4 of the programs. In return I don't see what the big 12 would get.

They get their 10th baseball school as they're only going to have 9 after Nebraska leaves. However, I don't see it happening in basketball anytime soon as they'll probably stick with just 10 teams. Also, we couldn't be a full fledged Big 12 school anyway as we don't have a football program.

WSU's "crappy baseball team" playing in the Biug 12 would be more competitive in that league in that sport than KU or KSU are in football in that league.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

KU and KSU would never, ever let that happen. OU hates our baseball program and won't even deign to schedule us anymore. Nobody else in that leage gives a rat's ass about WSU to the degree that they would stick their neck out and shout over the shrieking Jayhawks and Wildcats.

The only school with that kind of singular influence is Texas, and we are dreaming if we think that Augie and co. would do us that kind of epic favor.

And Texas might just do it to show the kids who is really in charge here.
