We know that some WSU shirts were printed before hand Because the players were wearing them right after the game. How many depends on the risk people were willing to take.

I don't think those shirts had WSU on them, just NIT Championship on them. They could have given them to Alabama if they had won just as well.

It completely makes sense to print both shirts. Sales will never be higher than the next couple of days following the event. You can't wait until you know who is going to win, because you can't distribute the shirts to all the hot vendors in many cities in time to ride the euphoria.

Cost to make one shirt: $3. Sell price of shirt: $20.
If you guess correctly, profit = $17.
If you guess incorrectly, profit = -$3.

Cost to make two shirts: $6. Sell price of shirt: $20. Profit = $14, regardless who wins.

Which would you do? Risk going negative $3 per shirt, with the hope of making $3 extra per shirt, or just guarantee yourself $14 per shirt regardless the outcome?

It really depends on who is making the shirts. If they have buying power, you're close to correct, however...you have to figure in licensing rights for KU as well as the Final 4 / NCAA Champs...which can be quite expensive. Usually it's a percentage of retail cost.

Although if the shirts are destroyed (or sitting on a kid in africa) I don't believe you have to pay the licensing for them.

1) A worse seed beating a better seed is an upset.
2) No one even said they were upsets anyways.
3) Even if KU was an 8 seed and UNI was a 1 seed, it would still be funny to watch UNI beat them.
