  • The Marshall Decade

    http://goshockers.com/news/2017/10/3...ll-decade.aspx

This will be a fun look back at the last decade of Shocker Basketball...

"Wichita State hired Gregg Marshall on April 14, 2007. He is 261-90 in 10 seasons at Wichita State, directing a decade that redefined Shocker basketball. Throughout the next five months, we will remember these 10 seasons, starting with your contributions on social media.

The Marshall Decade. Let us know how you define it on social media on Facebook and on Twitter at @GoShockers and @RoundHouseNews.

Nov. 1 - Most memorable victory of the Marshall Decade (2007-17)

Nov. 3 - Most memorable season of the Marshall Decade

Nov. 7 - List your Marshall Decade starting lineup – two guards, two wings and a big man from student-athletes who played from 2007-17. If you have a hard time choosing, add a sixth man.

Nov. 9 - Most memorable individual performance of the Marshall Decade"
At the start of the 2007-08 season, we didn't know how to define Wichita State basketball.

Imo, At this time, Cotton is above Duff. After Duff leaves, that probably won't be the case. If Shamet stays he may be above FVV too but not if he leaves early.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

If anyone says anything other than "The Final Four season", I question their priorities.

Because it said "season," my vote was for undefeated season. Looking back in retrospect, the Final Four year obviously ended better, but in the moment, I think the undefeated season was more enjoyable because the team was so dominating on its way to making history...not to mention that there was already a ton of excitement in the air coming off the Final Four run. The Final Four season was really good...but only went off the charts for about two or three weeks.

You certainly have to split some fine frog hair between the two, no question about that.

I love Landry Shamet but good gravy he's got a LOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG way to go to get past Freddy. Landry could be one of the top 10 players in the history of the program, and not surpass Fred. Potential? Sure. But a long way to go.

It was a toss up for me as I really loved the undefeated season. But the Final Four was just magical and really, that's what it is all about, getting to that championship weekend when you're only two games away from a national championship. That's why I voted for the Gonzaga game as my favorite because that was when we really shocked (pun intended) the college basketball world and proved we were a team to be reckoned with and it gave that team the confidence to get through the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 on our way to the FF.

I put Ohio State ahead of Gonzaga because it was farther along in the tournament and also because there unfortunately were still idiots who thought that Gonzaga was overrated, thus slightly discounting what the Shockers did. It was ignorant stupidity, but it still existed. There were absolutely no YEAH BUTs when the Shockers knocked off the Buckeyes. That was a HUGE win.

Too small, just like most of them were told while being recruited. Not a better collection of clutch performers, or better players, in the Marshall era. Shamet or McDuffie hasn't earned a roster spot over any of those, yet.
