I've got a problem. I was reading Jaypak's post today in the volleyball forum on rankings and I had a sudden thought that somewhat scared me......I don't think I hate Creighton as much as I used to. I'm so excited about being in the American and rekindling ancient rivalries with Tulsa and Cincy. And forming new ones with SMU, Memphis, UConn, etc. that I've found myself softening on my utter hatred for Creighton. I actually found myself wondering if I could ever have a beer with a Creighton fan. What's wrong with me!! I need help. Please forgive my unforgivable thoughts fellow Shockernetters. I truly need help.

From a men's basketball perspective, Creighton will probably become what Tulsa used to be...a historical rival that loses luster due to absence. Still doesn't mean that I won't hate their jackhole fans' guts. I had too many disappointments in St. Louis to forget how much I despise that fanbase.78-65

I don't know I ever "hated" Creighton....but I did really dislike them like you do in a good rivalry. I had a couple run-ins with idiot fans that fueled the dislike. It was hard to hate them after they left. The year they left we went to the Final Four, then we were ranked at near the top of the country the entire next season. We've clearly had way more success since they left. Throw in the fact that I'd switch over to FS1 to watch a Creighton game and it had been bumped by darts made me feel better that them leaving didn't launch them any higher than the Shox. Then my trip to Omaha a couple years ago for the NCAA tournament improved my view of their fans 10 fold. I had a couple of really nice older Creighton fans sell me their great tickets to the game for face value. They just wanted to make sure the tickets went to Shocker fans and not KU fans....then at the game every Creighton fan I saw was cheering for us to beat KU. The sad thing is now if you go over to their message board, their primary basketball forum has less activity than our Off Topic or Women's Sports. Not sure what happened to all their fans.

Their last year in the Valley I rode a shuttle bus to the game that had a lot of cretin fans on board. Almost all of them were sorry to leave the Shocks behind and wished we had been invited to the big least with them. However then I had to witness their student section and all compassion left me

If it doesn't help, I still think Syracuse can suck one.

My lessening of hate is mainly because I haven't been forced to interact with that segment of their fan base since 2013. And time has a way of softening the heart. Plus McBuckets is a team mate of Ron this year for the Knicks...I've gotta root for him to slam home Baker's assists.

Creighton.. They owned wsu in the 90's. Then they became the team at the top of the mountain as wsu was working it's way to the top of the mountain. Then by the time wsu reached the top, Creighton had left the mountain. But wsu kept ascending after the top of the mountain. I never bitterly hated Creighton, just hated losing to them and enjoyed watching the battles. And now looking at them and us, oh how the times have changed.

The most memorable moments I've had with Creighton fans came in their last year in the Valley during the 2013 MVC Tournament. I was a student at the time, and the night after both we and Creighton won our semi-final games, a couple friends and I sat down at a bar at a restaurant while waiting for our table. An older couple wearing Creighton gear sat next to us. They were very nice and we talked about our upcoming game tomorrow and about their move to the Big East. It raised my opinions of their fans a bit.
But the next day, as us students lined up to get into the game, Creighton and WSU students were pitted against each other. In that ticket office area of Scott Trade Center, tensions were HIGH. Creighton students were throwing things at WSU students. Obscenities were thrown both directions. The hatred returned.
That weekend really was a blast.
