Not sure about that. One of the goals is to win the Valley. What's his record against the Valley? :D

I must admit, the "speculation" stuff is getting old. Rumors are all some of you are going by and assuming the worst.

They'll be plenty of time to talk about new coach stuff when and if it happens.

Have to agree with Ricky Bobby and Shox21 on this. It's kind of embarrassing.

          ... No really, deuces.

Why not just go ahead and clone John Wooden.

If we have to find a replacement this year then I'd say Chris Jans. If we get to keep GM for two or maybe three (please please please) more years, then def Cooper.

That's a nice plan. IF South Carolina is his dream job as has sometimes been speculated, it could very well open up in a year or two or maybe three. Wait for that and we should know more about Coop and if he's ready to be the man here. IF he goes somewhere this year, than Jans should be at or near the top of the list. He is ready to be a D1 head coach

Has a Duke assistant ever had any success? I'm sure there's at least one, but you always here about how poorly they've done when given a chance.

                            How do we know?

Seriously how can you possibly know anything about this guy with his background? How does being an assistant at Duke translate into doing anything at WSU?

He may very well be a great head coach some day. I would rather somebody else take a gamble on him. He isn't going to have McD's sitting on the bench at WSU. So his experience doesn't really translate into anything here.

Jans is the only assistant I would feel good about. For two reasons, he knows the Valley inside and out, and he has at least coached and done it well at a lower college level. If not hopefully WSU finds somebody that is currently coaching at a slightly lower level league and has been successful.

Question: Does the recruiting and scheduling experience at a Duke, or other perennial powerhouse provide a good foundation for the recruiting and scheduling rigors that will be faced at a Wichita State?

I'm thinking they may not exactly be apples to apples.

Edit: I see Ta Town has similar concerns about this and beat me to the punch.
