Conference - Without Auto Bids (With Auto Bids)
    Pac 10 - 125% (122%)
    ACC - 118% (104%)
    Big Ten - 86% (84%)
    Big East - 70% (90%)
    SEC - 63% (99%)
    Big 12 - 59% (71%)

Not surprisingly, the auto bid winners tended to overperform for the most part. These teams were hot enough to win their conference tourneys heading into the Big Dance.
If we throw out the 14-16 seeds, since they were auto-bid teams that probably would not have otherwise made a field of 64, how did the "rest of the field" do, both with and without auto-bids (seeds 1-13)? Also, if you were to combine the numbers that made up your performance results for the Big 6 conferences above, what would have been their combined with and without auto-bid performance %? Thanks.

I'm working on a rather detailed analysis of results vs expectations over the past 15-20 years. My focus is on BCS vs non-BCS results, although I'll probably add some other categories as well. I think I'll just wait until I'm finished before I take any more specific requests. Since the season is over and this board is switching to summer mode, I'll probably wait until next season. Sorry, but I think you will find the results worth the wait.

FYI - The mid-majors overperformed as a whole based on seeding in the 2011 tournament. BCS teams underperformed.

Sounds good, JH4P. To throw my 2 cents in, might I suggest doing two non-Big 6 analysis. One including all in the Dance and a second leaving out those, say 14-16 seeds, that were not true 14-16 seeds (most were more like 20, 30, even 40 seeds).
