You like apples......how bout dem apples?

I'd rather see something like 1,250,000.00 for 10 years. 10 years would blow his socks off I believe. That's the same as 2.5 for 5, about as much as he could expect in his wildest dreams.

I know the NCAA is the ultimate goal. But I'll tell you this....Mark Turgeon didn't have a team that could win the NIT. If you haven't checked, the Shocks are favored to win tomorrow.

And I LOVE the way the program represents the school and the university. These kids haven't embarrassed anyone since Gregg arrived and I believe every senior has graduated. That's the kind of man I want running the program, and those are the goals. The winning is icing.

And you can gripe about not winning the conference, I won't argue that. When he's been given a chance (year 1 was no chance) he's finished 5,2,2. And we all know who had the best talent this year. This thing is trending up...the program is finally beginning to learn to win. Now isn't the time to change. Now's the time to put your foot down and say enough is enough.

We want to win, win big and we want Gregg Marshall to take us there. Coach, here is the most golden of parachutes. Don't worry about a thing, just go win.

ok Doc I'm convinced! :goshocks: 8)

Doc, I agree with you in general although no way is 1.25 for 10 the same as 2.5 for 5.

I will say though I have no problem offering the 1.25 for 10 as long as Shocker fans understand they will get the privilege of helping to pay for that. If you want to be a player you have to be payer.

Some portion might come from our deep pocket supporters, but that is not anything we are entitled to and can just demand.

We need to do our best to match the market. The market today is seven figures and long term contracts. The program is moving forward, let's not take steps backward if we can help it.

Does anybody know how much money WSU receives from the NIT? Do we get more for winning it all?

im still wondering that. love the run and impressed but its against average competition. top 5 games we played this year are still UCONN, SDSU, MO STATE, MO STATE, and VCU. and our record was 0-5. We have to win games that matter. I still think his coaching leaves a little to be desired. I will take him as our coach for as long as he wants to be here bc he can recruit and we will be as talented as anyone (and that gives us a chance) but I cant stand watching us get out coached in games. Especially in the valley.

I can give you a more definitive answer next week, but other than compensation for travel, and it's nowhere near 100% compensation, I don't believe the school gets $1.

I will tell you the game against C of C was quite profitable for the U.

I like it, BUT I would add a $2,500,000 bonus at the end of the 10th year. Have something there that he has to decide to walk away from.

I don't ever want to see coach leave.

That said, if things went horribly wrong, you are recommending our university commit to what could be a $10,000,000 buyout. Think about Lowery and the situation they are in.

Repeat: Potential $10,000,000 buyout if things go horribly wrong in a couple years.

Meh, we should still do it anyway -- he's that good, and the risk is that low!

I'd put Va Tech in that category over Mo State. They are a very good team with NBA talent. Alabama will also join that goup over Mo State, we'll see how that turns out.

You all talk like nothing's happening. What a great opportunity it is for GM and ES to be in NYC where they can be hashing this out. Dr. Beggs is there also, so there is no doubt in my mind, they have already had closed door sessions on extending Gregg's contract.

GM told me last year that he just got a new mortgage and he'd be living here long after the mortgage was paid.

                                Let's win the NIT tonight!!
