      What would they be going through - a coaching change for them give them more flexibility because they will be let out of their LOI if they don't want to come.

      • Cronin's name came up late. Very often late reveals end up being the guy. Hope that's the case here.
        Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

          Whenever any team has a coaching change, particularly this late in the year, I think it leaves their incoming recruiting class up in the air somewhat. These kids signed with a particular coach for a particular reason to play a particular style of ball. By the time all this shakes out, it will probably be too late for them to get a scholarship anywhere else so they have to hope the newly hired coach is one they want to play for. You act as if a coaching change has no impact on the incoming class, and in my opinion you are wrong. It not only has an affect on the newbies, but on the existing team. These kids were signed to fill particular holes in the team. They start asking for their release, and those holes exist again. And it leaves the coaching staff scrambling once again, to fill those holes.

            I agree it is potentially a huge effect on WSU if they lose the recruiting class.

            But I disagree that the recruits are somehow sitting around going "oh my what ever am I going to do". And it won't be to late to go elsewhere. It is not like it's July, but April when the late signing recruiting period is starting up.

            If they want to go to WSU they will still have that opportunity. If they want to look elsewhere (or try and follow the coach) they will have that option (e.g. Jake White - UNI will snatch him up in a heartbeat if he decides he doesn't like the new coaching staff). I'm sure the JUCO big man Carl Hall won't be short of options either.

              I would puke my guts out if Jake White ended up at UNI. Having him tear us up for 4 years, cause that how it always seems to work.

              • Marshall will do what is right for Marshall and his family. It will also be what is suppose to be for WSU. Patience is a virtue (I heard that somewhere), but right now my virtue is getting tested. I just hope it's not a case like Krugerat UNLV. Saying he will be back next year and then 24 hours later (after more money is on the table) changing his mind.

                We are a very loyal fan base and we are very knowledgeable about the sport we love and how the business side works. Just give us the news, one way or the other, and like it or not we will deal with it as we always have.

                No one can take the NIT away from us, but we would all be a little sad if the coach who took us there was not at CKA next year to see the banner raised. But we will deal with it. I am truly hoping that Marshall will be standing there next year grinning from ear to ear when the banner is unveiled.

                • Maybe everyone simply needs to remember the first part of the Serenity Prayer.

                  God grant me the serenity
                  to accept the things I cannot change;
                  courage to change the things I can;
                  and wisdom to know the difference.

                    How do you know Marshall will do the right thing for his FAMILY? Did Todd Lickliter go from coaching Butler to being fired at Iowa as good for his family?

                    Was Keno Davis' decision to go from Drake to being fired at Providence good for his family?

                    How about Jeff Lebo's decision to go from Chattanooga to being fired at Auburn. Was that good for his family?

                    Maybe Bobby Gonzolez going from being successful and happy at Manhattan College to being fired at Seton Hall good for his family.

                    Now I have just listed a few off the top of my head that didn't go so well. I know there are some who did make the right choice.

                    The point is it's a crapp shoot. It seems being a major college basketball coach has some narcissistic tendancies to it. How do you know if it greener on the other side? Go to the other side I guess. But it can come at a steep price.

                    I hope GM stays. I think he is a good coach. Fans just can't trust what comes out of coaches mouths. Fans have been burnt too many times. By mid-week we will know if GM is loyal to WSU...at least for another year.

                      when your salary doubles with big buyouts, it's hard to say they didn't do the right thing...

                        • There is a lot of negativity towards 3G on the NCST boards. Apparently he is not good enough for them. Personally, I hope the AD shares the same attitude. They don't need 3G, he's a horrible coach and would just bring their historic and prized basketball program down. :roll:

                              Geeze -- come down off your soap box and take a breath. You seem to think coaching is all about loyalty to a school. That's crap and you should know it. It's a business. It's a job. It's a career. If you think you can advance yourself in your career while securing your family's financial security, then why not? Do I want him to go -- hell, no. But I would understand if he chooses to do so. And I think it will be a very difficult decision for him if he does decide to leave.

                                The best part about reading their board is the arrogance. Apparently being able to recruit to a mid major and a major are two different things. Of course anybody with common sense understands it's much harder to recruit at the mid major level but they seem to think recruiting at the bcs level is very difficult and requires a special person. Also they seem to think the X and O's change at the major level, just cause you can coach at WSU doesn't mean you can coach at NC state. What a bunch of turds, they deserve whoever they get and hopefully it isn't Marshall.

                                I hope Marshall returns one more year. Kicks even more butt next year then South Carolina opens up for him. Marshall comes off a little different than most coaches and that rubs some people the wrong way but I like him a lot and love how he stands up for WSU and the program and doesn't take stuff from anybody.

                                He will kick butt wherever he goes and any BCS fan base that fails to see what he has done at two different programs in such short order is blind.
