I'd have a hard time seeing him go to OU.

Whatever happened to "you don't contact a coach whose team is still playing"?

Here's another, saying the OU job is Marshall's to lose. If Shocker's lose tonight, Marshall could be OU's coach on Wednesday.

The Indy Star reports that Missouri is hot for Purdue coach Matt Painter. At $1.3 million per year, Painter is one of the lowest-paid coaches in the Big Ten. Missouri is said to be offering $2 mill…

The Oklahoman is the number one source for Oklahoma City breaking news, politics, business, sports, entertainment and obituaries.

At least Barry Trammel is a respected journalist.

To summarize, Buzz Williams was considered to be the top pick, but possible NCAA problems, and a $2,000,000 buyout could be problematic. Reports are now Williams will stay at Marquette.

Lon Kruger is a possibility. Dave Rose from BYU as well. Gregg and Tad were mentioned as well.

I would give OU a less than 1% chance at getting Tad to move to Norman.

I would put the chance that Gregg would want to go to Norman at maybe 20%, and that's being generous.

I would consider than there is less than a 10% chance that Joe C. would offer the job to a Wichita State coach.

20% of 10% means about a 2% chance, to me at least.

Personally, I don't think that rumor is real as opposed to the report that OU offered Mark Turgeon the head coaching job in the spring of 2006 which was 100% factual.

I have to laugh at all this.

              1. All this stuff being "reported" is little more than observer speculating among himself that so-and-so makes sense at such-a-place. Then some rumor-blogger picks it up as a "report" and before you know it, that job is Marshall's to lose.

              2. I do believe it is still customary to wait until a team is finished playing before interviewing their coach. So how anyone can believe that a job is some coach's to lose when there probably hasn't even been an interview, is beyond me.

Okay I'm going to touch the 500 lb gorilla in the room:

What pressure is there on an administration in this day and age to replace a fired African American coach with another African American coach?

I'm not talking legally, I'm talking the politically correct environment we live in.

Absolutely zero. I'd guess there is less pressure on them since they already had one. My guess is pressure would be on the schools that have never had an AA coach in any sport.

I would hope that is the right answer.

Well, Turg, Gene and Chris Lamb all turned down OU...hopefully Marshall continues the trend.
