Probably the second best KU has played all season.
If you're going to peak, not a better time for it. The Shocks also seem to be playing their best ball of the year, unfortunately we did not get to see that on the Big Stage.
Well, two of our non-conference losses made the Elite 8, and San Diego State might have had they not been stuck against Kemba and the Connecticuts. We need more non-con games like those.
So Connecticut and VCU (despite bad FT shooting by alleged foulee Rodriguez) are among the final eight, and so is Butler, which might well have missed the NCAA field had it not won its conference tournament.
A possible lesson for the guys returning as Shockers next year? Maybe something like, "This time, finish the damn job!" You can bet Marshall and his staff already know that one, so if the players take it to heart and act on it, who knows -- maybe next March WSU's postseason run will be in the NCAA instead of the NIT. As I recall, that sort of motivation worked very nicely for a certain WSU baseball team about 22 years ago.
