NIT SHirts

I'm proud of the team making this run, and would gladly sport a NIT final four shirt. Maybe I am a sucker for Shocker gear. It's much less embarrassing than those "Oh look we're ranked 8th" t-shirts we made in 07. It's also less embarrassing than the regular old NIT shirts that were made before the Nebraska game that I saw several people sporting.

Who's this "we" you speak of? A few random people who bought iron on t-shirt paper for your inkjet printer from OfficeMax?

I don't know who sold them. I suppose it wasn't the athletic department. So "we" wasn't the best wording. Maybe it was Jock's and Jill's? I remember seeing them for sale and thinking it could be a bad idea. It highlighted the fact that WSU was ranked higher than Kansas at the time with the AP poll on the back.

I still see a decent number of them around even today.

I still have a regular old NIT shirt that I got in 2005. Turgeon tried to make a really big deal out of going to the NIT and I fell for it.

At least now I have a reason to wear that old shirt.

It was a big deal back then because of the years and years and years of not doing anything.

This year? Not so much.

Mixed feelings here.

IMHO, getting to the NIT isn't much of an accomplishment.

But the run we've made to get to NY is definitely an accomplishment.

With that said though....I've got more important uses for my money.

Being in the NIT "Final Four" is roughly like being one of the four least retarded kids in the special class. Sure, you can be proud of it in a relative sense, but there's no reason to run around making T-shirts out of it.

If they win the NIT than a shirt saying something along the lines of "were 69th" would be kind of funny. You could brag about the accomplishment but nobody could give you grief because you are admitting it isn't a huge deal.

I would be willing to bet that the NIT Champion would beat a good portion of the teams in the Big Dance, so I don't think the 69th best 'joke' is that funny.

Our team has done what is best due to the situation, to take the tournament serious and try to do their best. We have got more press by our little run that a 'one and done' in the NCAA tournament. (I mean what press has Indiana State had since the tournament, and they did not have that much before the tournament either).

The NIT thing is turning into a very positive thing for us, so let's just enjoy it and cheer for the Shockers.
