  • Lineup for next season

I've been trying to run through my head what our team will look like next season. Here is how I see our team next year.

    Starter/Bench:

    1-Ragland/Williams
    2-Murry/Kyles/Cotton
    3-Smith/Wessel/Richardson
    4-Hall/White
    5-Stutz/EO

I'm banking that EO can develop enough to actually contribute to the team next year. Also I was confused where to put Smith, but I figured he's more of a tweener anyways. Obviously we're a little small (and thin) down low. I've intentionally left off Hamilton because it looks like he's probably gone next year.

I have a sneaky feeling about this team though. Even though we lost a lot down low, I think the upperclassmen will continue to develop. If Hall and White are as good as advertised, I think we can have a better year than this year. This team will get better as the year goes on. I'm aware this isn't a popular opinion though.

Might be another piece or two that is not yet in place.

I think Cotton is strictly a PG, he doesn't shoot well enough to be a SG. And if Hamilton is gone, we will definately recruit 1 more at least.

I think we will be better. Less confusion with our guard situation. Murry, Kyles, Stutz, Rags, Smith -- 5 seniors that could be a small guard starting squad similar to SIU back in their heyday. Add some key recruits and an improved schedule and we might see some magic.

Next year is Stutz's Paul Miller senior year. Shedding the shackles of FIFI. EO will not see time.

According to HCGM, EO has improved over the last month and will probably see up to 20 minutes a game next year.

Stutz needs to play 25 minutes and average a double-double.

I think we will recruit a 3 (SF) and a 4 (PF). Hall may have to take over Durley's duties at the 5, especially if EO isn't ready to come off the bench instead of just mop-up minutes. Of course, it is possible that coach might recruite a JUco 5 to help out Stutz, and keep Hall as a 4. Either way, I do think that Jake White will play some his freshman year.

I can't see Richardson really riding the pine for the 3rd year in a row.

I don't see it. If there was great improvement why wouldn't he get some minutes.

You mean this year or next year? You'll have to ask the coach.

Don't rule out the possibility of Murry playing some at the 3.
Don't rule out the possibility of Stutz and EO playing some together.

Garret could end up more of a 4 (at least offensively) while Hall and EO play inside.

Marshall was talking about the possibly of Stutz and EO both getting 20 minutes.

Because even with improvement, he still has Durley and Stutz in front of him.
