The only way the Valley is going to gain any meaningful respect at this point in time is when we beat MSU in the NIT championship game in the Big Apple.

Rose, I've somehow got the feeling that several platters of Nachos and beer would get you through it.

Last night not such a great night for the MVC:

MSU loses at Miami in the NIT 81-72 despite a career night by Adam Leoanard.

Creighton wins at home 102-92 over Davidson in a defense optional game in the CBI.

Evansville loses on the road to Boise State 76-69 in the CBI.

UNI with a 57-50 home loss to SMU in the CIT.

I may ruffle a few KU hater feathers here, but I really like Coach Dauherty. I'm suprised he hasn't done better at SMU, remember he was the one that recruited the players that finally got ol Royboy his first title. SMU doesn't have that great of facilities or support from what I have read, but they should be able to pull some Dallas talent. Would love to see him on a short list if Coach Marshall leaves.

I always thought Matt Dougherty would have done better at SMU then he has. It seems like we recruit a lot of the same players.

2 problems I see right of the bat:

                1) He was let go from North Carolina because of his anger management issues.

                2) Look at his record. He has never once finished 1 or 2 in conference, and has only won 20 games with players he recruited once, this year.

He is trending up, but would be a risky hire at this point.

Can't speak for other cities, but the only mention WSU received in the local Daytona paper has been a listing in the box score section covering both of our games. They did have five lines about Miami beating MS, but that was expected being a state school.

As far as USA Today goes, there has been very little publicity about the NIT and nothing about the Shocks except again for a box score.

Perhaps USA Today has more coverage in other states where various state schools are involved.

But as far as respect goes, it seems that little respect is being shown the NIT as a whole, at least in Northern Florida.

When may parents lived in Florida (the Villages) it seemed like even the local Florida schools didn't get much coverage in their area newspapers.

Our rag covers the BCS schools pretty well and weekly they will list about 15 BB conferences during the season. Seldom is the MVC is included. I've written to them and call the sports desk several times and I get a lot of "Oh, sorry, our mistake, we'll include them next week." And then two weeks later they leave them out.

That's why I also subscribe to USA Today.

                      Just saying.
