No matter what happens from here on out, the Valley proved that when pitted against peers in other conferences, the cream rises to the top.
It helps salve the wounds of the regular season a little bit, but I don't think it makes up for the MVC's performance in the MWC Challenge or BracketBusters.

Besides we could easily go 0-5 in the next round of games. So let's see how this plays out before we get to giddy about the 5-0 start in Non-NCAA post-season play.

WSU, MSU, CU, UE, UNI all played at home, correct?

Nice, but no surprise. Looking at the brackets, I expect UNI to win their tourney....that's a pretty weak bracket imho.

That is all true. But this year the Valley even seemed to fail in games it should have won. There was no excuse for going 3-7 in the BB or 1-8 in the MWC-MVC Challenge for example.

So far during the post season the Valley is winning all of the games it should win. And that is very nice.

The damage has already been done, poor showing in the Valley's non-con regular season schedule, RPI, in the MWC/MVC Challenge, BB's and last but not least a one-bid conference.

You can put as much car wax on an old jalopy, but its still a jalopy.

Agree - and that was the point of the article...

Quick question. Will the conferences recent performance in post season play, help the final conference standings? Like we were the 12th rated conference, but after post season play is it possible to move up a spot or two if we play well?

Yes - the final records determine the ranking for the conferences, so we can move up if we play well.

It won't much matter this year...

To answer your question the answer is no. I don't think anybody really cares the MVC is 5-0 the loser tournaments. The MVC is on nobody radar because everybody is fixed on that tournament called March Madness.

                  Is the examiner really press?

Too little, too late. It's already been proven that the Valley was very weak this year (something that even WSU, the consensus preseason pick, couldn't overcome).

I agree, but has anyone considered the fact that Charles Barkley mentioned, the Big East being over rated?

I almost think all the BCS leagues are overrated. Who sets RPI's to begin with? Who does all the ratings? Most are BCS affiliated if I'm not mistaken.

The Valley was down, but it looks like the teams that beat us in the Bracket Busters are doing fine. Maybe they are underrated, hence all the so-called mids are underrated.

Maybe, just maybe, the disparity between the two is not as wide as all of the "ratings" people make it out to be. Maybe, despite being down this year, the Valley's top two teams should have been in.

At the very least, they would not have faired any worse than many bottom feeder BCS schools that have already been eliminated.

Nope. What they will point out now is, "the Valley had their tournament championship team in, and they got beat by double digits in the first round."

Beating Virginia Tech on their home floor on espn (something even Duke couldn't do) should earn WSU some respect (and indirectly a little respect for the MVC).

                        Baby steps.

We should be hanging the real Sweet 16 banner. A damn shame.

Can't do anything about that now... let's just win the NIT!

Really!!! A high seed would have been the best to hope for. This team just doesn't have what it takes for a S-16. With that said, I am rooting for them as hard as anyone in the NIT.
