.... he insists that Toure rhymes with Murry, and he thinks people stay at the Innd at Tallgrass. Is that really how we want to be represented on the PA system?
Bless you my son. I've been thinking the same thing for nearly a decade.....I just couldn't figure out how you spell "Innd".
Do you remember when Dave Armstrong made an announcement during an inopportune time and Fogler absolutely glared at Armstrong?
Funny thing is I remember when it happened b/c I was at the game, Armstrong might have been fired b/c of it.
And even Topeka sports talk folks talked about it.
And now he is a KU color announcer. For those of you (and maybe me) wondering about your careers in your 40s, you just never know how it will turn out. I heard him on a KC sports talk show some time ago talking about how he worked for a check printing company before he got the KU gig.

I always wondered what happened to Dave Armstrong. Besides doing the PA announcing for WSU, he also spent a long time doing Sports for KSNW.
When he wasn't doing sports for KSNW, he could be heard doing some Wings broadcasts, working on different inflections of WOW, trying to sandbag people on the golf course, and being just a general gynormous douchebag yet he always managed a smile when he bent over and spread 'em wide for his beloved jayhawks.
Fixed for political correctness. Not for accuracy.
wow, wu...how do you REALLY feel?Actually, without the gay reference, I also can't stand Dave Armstrong...but Don Hall's not bad.I mean 16 Wichita radio stations can't ALL be wrong, can they??? ;-)
What we need is a director of game day operations - somebody that understands that when you put up stats no one cares about steals - turnovers is the stat people want to see - also there seems to constantly be a battle for air time between the band and the music blaring through the speakers - its not about saying the band plays at the 16 and 8 minute timeouts - and the music plays at the 12 and 4 minutes timeouts - its about playing the right music for the right situation. Its not about playing Crazy Train - 5 sedonds before WE shoot free throws. Why are we the only school in the midwest that doesnt show replays on questionable calls? What's up with the lame halftime shows - where the heck was "quick change"? Ashley furniture shootout is fun to watch - the rest of them are pretty weak - and dont get me started on the mascot game. You need to have a fans mentality to be this director of game day operations - lights, camera, action...... que the music!
Don't let the fear of striking out - keep you from playing the game!

He is the play-by-play guy, not color. His two phrases drove me crazy.
1. "Step aside," when throwing to a commercial break.
2. "Who da thunk it," when something out of the ordinary would happen.
I did love pounding him on the links though. He thought he was somthing special.
Regarding the sound. I have sat in various locations over the years. It used to be that you couldn't understand anything up high because the speakers were aimed at the floor. They fixed that. The other night I sat low and could barely understand what Don was saying. This should be fixed.
