  • Oklahoma Fires Jeff Capel

Will be interesting to see what kind of candidates this job attracts. Sampson left that place a total mess, and Capel really stubbed his toe with the Tiny Gallon debacle last spring. I am surprised they didn't give him one more year.

He's in the same situation that C-Lo is in at SIU.

Taking a shot at high talent-low character kids is a huge risk.

You get a whole class of problems and it might take years to recover, and few fans or administrators have the patience for that.

Capel was a flyer for OU. He had far to little experience or network to be head coach at a BCS school.
      Basketball Season Tix since '77-78 . . . . . . Baseball Season Tix since '88

Plus no one down there gives two shats about basketball. The best decision Mark Turgeon ever made, or ever will make in the future, was turning down the Sooners.

I would take him, if for some crazy reason we find ourselves with a job opening.

Playing basketball in the shadow of OU football would be very difficult. I am always amazed at how poorly their baseball team is supported. I remember a regional down there a few years ago when the Shocker fans pretty much outnumbered the OU fans.
